Davies Maguire are Structural and Civil Engineering Design consultants with offices in London, Oxford and Cambridge. We have a track record for successfully unlocking the value in numerous complex projects. Prior to founding the practice, the directors worked together for over 15 years. The company's creativity, collaboration and a passion for delivering outstanding structural engineering design is the catalyst behind our award winning practice and why clients, architects and contractors repeatedly choose Davies Maguire to engineer their projects. We have a hands on approach more typically found amongst smaller companies while having the depth of knowledge equivalent to that of any of our larger competitors. Our clients have included many successful developers who have commissioned us for repeat projects on the basis of the skill we have in communicating with architects and establishing with them, and the whole team, a clear structural armature around which the whole design can proceed. This is a process, not only built on the directors’ appreciation of architecture and the value of well-planned buildings but also a keen understanding for how they will be built by the substructure and superstructure trade contractors. Their pioneering work with these trades has led to a number of awards and involved them in being commissioned by contractors in the reengineering of others’ complex designs during the tender process. Our aim is to continue delivering practical and commercially astute designs for our clients, consulting and evolving their brief with them to get both the concept and the small details right.

Shortlisted. We are very pleased to announce that Davies Maguire have been shortlisted for the National Highways Lower Thames Crossing Low-Carbon Footbridge Design Competition, alongside our wider team of Engineering Office Miebach and bridge architect Stephen James. The contest aims to find an innovative, sustainable design for a crossing over the A127, a key strategic road located close to the northern end of the Lower Thames Crossing. The winning design could also form a new footbridge standard and be replicated across roads country wide. Our scheme promotes emerging technological innovations, particularly the use advanced timber construction and pre-stressed stone, utilising them with a creativity and sensitivity toward the landscape, site, materials and the end users. NEWS: The footbridge of the future? We are excited to share the five shortlisted designs for our low-carbon footbridge contest. Paragraph 79. Mill Hide, designed by Timothy Poulson, is a Paragraph 79 project in South Cambridgeshire. The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government's National Planning Policy Framework states that to qualify for approval a proposal’s design must be ‘of exceptional quality’. The new 437m² house clad in Cor-ten is the first Paragraph 79 project to be approved by South Cambridgeshire District Council’s planning committee. https://lnkd.in/ex_qbtuG

Team. Every year at Davies Maguire we come together to reflect on the previous 12 months and look towards the year ahead. This is a key component of our company ethos and through presenting back to our colleagues it helps develop and empower the team. It includes a healthy town-hall style discussion about what we have learned over the year, what we have done well, and what we could do better.
