The 'Art of Sketching - Design Narratives' exhibition curated by the RIBA HK Chapter features a rich collection of over 100 sketches contributed by renowned architectural practices, individuals, and students. Supported by the RIBA Local Initiative Fund to promote design excellence and member engagement, the exhibition is made possible thanks to our venue partner, HKDC, and the continuous support from Dr. Eric Yim. Months of preparations were led by Louise Greer and Dennis Ho with the support from Dianna Tang Mandi Tong, wong [wai yin] vivian, Adrian Lo Sarah Lee , Angeliki Koliomichou and the RIBA International Team Emma England and Chloe Sadler. The challenging task of setting up the exhibition was accomplished by a dedicated team, including Vera Kleesattel, Christy Au, Izk K Chan, Felix, and Joanna. The exhibition is open to the public until 25th January at the DX Design Hub offering an inspiring experience for the holiday season. We were delighted to welcome His Majesty King Charles III to Battersea Power Station today to experience the riverside neighbourhood’s festive offering. During the visit, His Majesty met with members of the local community and small business owners taking part in the Curated Makers Christmas Market this year, some of whom are young entrepreneurs supported by The King's Trust's Enterprise programme. His Majesty was greeted by Tan Sri Shahril Ridza Ridzuan, Chairman of Battersea Project Holding Company and Donagh O'Sullivan, CEO of Battersea Power Station Development Company. His Majesty also met with Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, for a tour of the company’s new UK headquarters inside the Power Station. To finish off the visit, Christmas drawings created by schoolchildren from St. George’s CoE Primary School, Battersea were projected onto the Power Station, followed by a live music performance from English multi award-winning singer-songwriter RAYE in Power Station Park for all to enjoy. 🏏Completed in 2021, the Compton & Edrich stands at Lord’s Cricket Ground, designed by WilkinsonEyre, enhance capacity, accessibility, and the spectator experience. At 24m high, they are the tallest at the venue, adding 2,600 seats to bring the total capacity to 31,180. The design incorporates sustainable features, with 50% of the seating re-used, alongside improved amenities such as pitch-facing restaurants and hospitality suites. The architecture respects both historic and modern elements, featuring steel columns and a canopy with radiating ribs and timber supports, complementing the nearby J.P. Morgan Media Centre.
