Leading international design practice with studios in Australia, Asia, and the UK. We are a Certified B Corp.
About us
We are a leading international design practice with studios in Asia, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Our purpose is to create a better future by designing the world’s best places – places people love. Our design values are shared globally across all our studios, by the talented people who work in them: architects, interior designers, landscape architects, urban designers, planners and specialist consultants. We work across a broad range of scales, from the interior design of a boutique retail store through to major public architecture and strategic urban planning for cities. And we work together in integrated design teams because they produce the best outcomes for our clients. Our focus is on people and how we create better, more meaningful experiences for them. We do that through creative, holistic thinking, a deep knowledge base and a rigorous design process. We judge the success of the buildings and places we design by the way people use and enjoy them - the clients who commission them, the people who inhabit them. We are a Certified B Corp. Australia’s new metro projects are reshaping more than just transit networks; they’re reimagining how urban areas link vital urban and ecological corridors, strengthen communities, and in Australia embed First Nations heritage into the heart of our cities. It’s clear that linear infrastructure corridors — such as railways — affect far more than just the land they occupy. Their impacts extend outward, influencing local communities and intersecting with the heritage of First Nations people in ways that are both profound and lasting. Addressing these impacts requires more than designing efficient stations; it calls for a holistic approach that considers the social fabric and historical significance of the regions they pass through. Our work on three metro projects in Western Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane charts an evolution of the changing role of transport design in our urban centres. Across Australia our emerging metro designs combine to deliver over 80km of corridor length, impacting millions of people in adjacent communities. 🔗 Learn more about our metro projects across Australia here: https://lnkd.in/gxHgPcgb 🖼 Cross River Rail, Sydney Metro - Western Sydney Airport (Image by Doug + Wolf) and Melbourne Metro #Hassell #UrbanTransport #RailwayDesign #CountryLedDesign #PlacesPeopleLove

As Bradfield — Australia’s newest city in a century takes shape, we’re excited to share a first look at the newly completed First Building. Designed by Hassell with key input from Djinjama, a First Nations cultural research and design agency, this landmark project — housing Stage 1 of the Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF) — embodies the emerging city’s commitment to being connected, green and advanced. Possessing a deep reverence for Country, the building’s design is inspired by its location on the Cumberland Plain, blending architecture with the surrounding landscape. The modular design makes it adaptable to future changes, allowing components to be disassembled, reconfigured or reused as Bradfield evolves. Built using natural materials like rammed earth and recycled tiles, it reflects the city’s commitment to circularity and sustainability. We’re proud to see Bradfield’s vision of the future coming to life in a building that respects Country and will serve the community for generations. 🔗 Read more about the innovative design thinking behind the First Building: https://lnkd.in/gJEDgeeS ▶ Video courtesy of Bradfield Development Authority #Hassell #Aerotropolis #CountryLedDesign #PlacesPeopleLove #RegenerativeDesign

Our design for Bradfield Central Park in Sydney, Australia began with a simple yet profound act: slowing down to closely observe nature, as guided by our First Nations partners – Djinjama and COLA Studio. Our guiding principle of doing no harm and touching the ground lightly was shaped by the insights of our partners and a visit to Rossmore Grange, a culturally significant First Nations site within Sydney’s new Aerotropolis. The resulting park design moves away from conventional European civic traditions, embracing instead a ‘Gadigal Civic’ approach, guided by Country, its Custodians and drawing inspiration from natural systems. 🔗 Read more about our design concept for Bradfield Central Park: https://lnkd.in/gHVZ3ixh Aileen Sage #Hassell #NaturePositive #Aerotropolis #CountryLedDesign #PlacesPeopleLove
