The joy of making. Our festive window along the facade of our Southwark Street studios, stop by and take a look. This year's display celebrates the abundant creativity of our colleagues through their explorations in making, outside of practice life. From ceramics, to dressmaking, to bike restoration, we’re proud to show the talent of the many people that ‘make' a practice. With a sprinkling of seasonal fun. Wishing everyone a peaceful and joyous end to the year. See you in 2025.

Thrilled with this news. Congrats to all the team.
Big news for the Barbican! We’re thrilled to announce that the City of London Corporation has approved £191 million in funding for the first phase of the Barbican Renewal Programme. This critical investment represents around 80% of the funding needed for the next five years of transformative works to preserve and enhance our Grade II-listed building. It will ensure the Barbican continues to thrive as a world-class arts and learning centre, reaching millions with bold and inclusive cultural programming. The Renewal Programme will sensitively restore and upgrade key spaces, including our iconic brutalist foyers, the lakeside terrace, and the conservatory, improving accessibility, sustainability, and opportunities for creative community use. See more here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eYyabvUG Our next step: launching a major fundraising campaign in 2025 to raise the funds needed to complete this ambitious vision. Together, we’ll ensure the Barbican remains an inspiring place for everyone for generations to come. More details to follow, but for now, a huge thank you to the City of London Corporation and all our supporters who’ve brought us to this milestone. 📸 Dion Barrett #BarbicanRenewal #Arts #CulturalHeritage #Sustainability #BrutalistArchitecture

Delighted to share that our Boord Street project has recently received planning approval. This community of sustainable new homes at the heart of Greenwich Peninsula marks a point of transition between our masterplan to the east where an emerging piece of city is taking shape, and to the western edge of the peninsula with its active wharf. The trio of residential buildings with interlocking forms step down from 26 storeys along Millenium Way, to 21 and 9 storeys towards the wharf; each step representing an increasing informality. March Square, a new south-facing public space at the corner of Marsh Walk and Boord Street, provides an entrance court for a nursery and leads to a light-filled residents garden at the centre of this family of buildings. New and repaired streets will knit the site into the wider fabric of the peninsula, with key routes along the future Millenium Way, a lively, tree-lined boulevard and River Way, an important east-west route. The wider project features student housing and self-storage and was a collaboration with aca studios and Threesixty Architecture Ltd.

At 11am on the Tall Buildings stage, our Antje Saunders will be speaking on the panel; The Evolution of London’s Skyline: Successfully Incorporating New Skyscrapers into the Capital, looking at many aspects of designing tall from contextual towers, positive density, public realm activation, designing for light and for safety. Also at 11am on the Sustainability stage, our Alex Wraight will take part in a panel; Health Buildings, Healthy Lives: Wellbeing by Design - discussing the challenges to wellbeing with the rise of home-working in environments not designed to be workplaces. Delighted to share that our detailed application for a new life science neighbourhood in the heart of Whitechapel has received planning consent. The masterplan will help to deliver a long-held vision supported by Barts Health NHS Trust, Queen Mary University of London, the Greater London Authority and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The proposals transform a series of outdated buildings and empty sites around the Royal London Hospital, with a new vision that provides commercial workplace, life science laboratories and higher education space alongside new public amenities including green spaces, squares, cafes and community spaces.
