They exploit vulnerabilities, manipulate trust, and entrap innocent women and girls into unimaginable circumstances. About us
Ride For Freedom’s SDG 8.7 aligned mission is to harness the universal appeal of cycling to raise awareness, educate and forge partnerships to end modern slavery, and to provide remedy to survivors. We do this because there are almost 50 million people worldwide enslaved and tens of thousands are exploited in the UK. Children, women and men. It is a heinous crime that needs to be eradicated. Ride For Freedom achieves its mission by creating and leading unique cycling challenge events and by partnering with high impact sports clubs, companies and aligned charities. The cycling challenges fundraise to support the development of Freewheel by Ride For Freedom, our remedial programme that empowers survivors of modern slavery to cycle. We do this by providing survivors with bikes, accessories and cycling training. The evidenced beneficial outcomes are that they gain additional independence and mobility, and improved mental and physical health and wellbeing. We welcome donations to support the development and delivery of Freewheel hubs regionally in the U.K. and globally.

Today, on Human Rights Day, we’re thrilled to share the #CycleRevolution 2024 Impact Report — 𝐚 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Over 150 participants and nine organisations joined forces this year to create lasting change through Ride For Freedom. Yesterday was the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery and together with my lovely colleagues Kasia Matoga and Manuella Melo, we're raising awareness and funds at our Aviva Hoxton office for Ride For Freedom this week 💛 Right now, there are at least 28 million people trapped in forced labour. That's more than three times the population of London. 1 in every 130 females globally are living in modern slavery - 58% of which are victims of forced labour, 84% of which are victims of forced marriages, and 99% of which are victims of forced sexual exploitation. If this cause is also close to your heart, please consider donating. Your donations will directly fund Ride For Freedom's awareness campaigns that aim to prevent modern slavery through education initiatives and community engagement programmes. These initiatives and programmes stop human trafficking and exploitation before it occurs. Scammers don’t only target your bank account. Often operating in plain sight, they manipulate, trick, and coerce individuals into exploitative situations. Modern slavery exists all around us—hidden in forced labour, servitude, sexual exploitation, and even the person calling you on the phone may be a victim themselves. For traffickers, this is a business—making money through deception and control, and taking advantage of gaps in our awareness. Whether it’s stealing directly from accounts or forcing individuals into slavery, the human cost is devastating. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥. This week, the BBC's Scam Week shines a light on how scams target people and what we can do to protect ourselves and others. It’s also a powerful reminder of how easily someone can be tricked through fake job offers, false promises of opportunity, or financial desperation. During Anti-Slavery Week, our CEO, Gordon Miller, stood alongside industry leaders at the Built Environment Against Slavery Conference and the Social Value Conference, sharing Ride For Freedom's vision of a world free from modern slavery. But it was the words of Ify, a lived experience consultant, that truly stopped us in our tracks: “𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒔𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒎𝒔, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒅𝒐 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚.” That simple yet profound statement shifted the room. It reminded us all that while policies and systems are critical, the real power lies in individual action. It’s about what each of us is willing to do to turn words into freedom.
