We are delighted to announce that a Women's Flandrien Hotel Scholarship for the 2025 season has been awarded to Prerana Sravan Kumar from India. Prerana will stay with us in the Spring to train and race in Belgium. We created the Flandrien Scholarship Program in 2021 to help young international athletes with a dream of training and racing in Europe, and our Women's program is part of our support for diversity and inclusion in cycle sport. Besides living their dreams and gaining race experience in Flanders, the program helps young people to develop essential traits like confidence and self-belief. By providing exposure to an international environment, it opens doors to personal growth and a wider network. Since launching the Flandrien Scholarship Program we have awarded places to more than 50 athletes who have stayed with us at the Flandrien Hotel in Brakel, Belgium. Participants are provided with fully subsidised accommodation, access to a team car, and all of the Hotel's services. The program is now almost fully subscribed for 2025 with 16 athletes from seven countries having been awarded Scholarships. We have just a few places remaining for the Autumn - contact us for more information.

For the month of July guests and staff at the Flandrien Hotel will be giving our full support to the hashtag #NotTooProToSayHello initiative of Çois Cycling Legacy. We are also providing a hotel stay giveaway to our LinkedIn followers as part of the campaign (read more below). In many parts of the world it is completely normal to greet fellow riders when out cycling. But in some countries and regions (and especially in my adopted home of Flanders) this simple courtesy has been lost. Research demonstrates that small acts of kindness, such as greeting strangers with a simple "hello," can significantly enhance mental health and foster a sense of community. Studies reveal that these brief, positive interactions contribute to increased feelings of happiness and well-being for both the initiator and the recipient. Saying hello can reduce feelings of social isolation and loneliness, creating a ripple effect of positivity. By acknowledging others, we affirm their existence and worth, which strengthens social bonds and builds a more inclusive, supportive community. Of course, for the truly obsessive cyclists among us the Velominati Rule 43 is relevant here: "...Always remember, we’re all brothers and sisters on the road" To enter our competition for a one-night stay for two people at the Flandrien Hotel, simply like and comment on this post and tag your friends who you know are passionate about cycling - and who are also kind-hearted spreaders of joy and good vibes. The winner will be announced on July 1st, with stays valid between 10th and 17th July. A big thanks to Tom Cools for launching the "Not too Pro to Say Hello" initiative and for continuing to be a friend and supporter of all that we do at the Flandrien Hotel. And of course, you can order your "Not Too Pro To Say Hello" cap here: https://lnkd.in/efRaJ6dh Remember, you're never too pro to say hello! www.flandrienhotel.com

The Tour of Flanders stands as a testament to cycling's rich heritage and sheer tenacity, cementing its place as the most iconic event in the world of cycling. It is the biggest event of the year for all of us at the Flandrien Hotel. Held on the last weekend in March and nestled within the picturesque landscape of Belgium, this race isn't merely a competition; it's a pilgrimage for cycling enthusiasts, an embodiment of grit, glory, and the relentless spirit of human endeavour. The weekend of De Ronde is a magical time to be at the Flandrien Hotel as we host a bespoke experience for just 24 guests. Arriving on Friday you are immediately embraced into the spirit of the weekend. We host a dinner with an experienced Pro Team Sports Director, explaining the tactics and planning that goes into the biggest one-day race on the calendar. You'll participate in a fundraising event for our Flandrien Scholarship Program, with some incredible cycling memorabilia going under the hammer. On Saturday we join the WeRideFlanders sportif, battling the cobbles and climbs that make the race so tough. After our ride we retire to the Flandrien Clubhouse for a tasting of some of Belgium's finest beers and narrated tour of our amazing Classic Bicycle Collection. The Sunday of the race is something special. Rather than sitting in a tent on the course, we take our guests on a race against the race, biking between five different viewing locations on the circuit. You will a have a chance to ride up iconic cobbles climbs just minutes before the pro peloton. If you would like to join us at the Flandrien Hotel for this year's Tour of Flanders, you can find more information on our website: www.flandrienhotel.com #visitflander #cyclinginflanders #flandrienhotel #deronde

Firstly, the Tour of Flanders is steeped in history, tracing its roots back to 1913. Over a century of legendary tales and triumphs has etched its significance into the fabric of cycling lore. The cobbled climbs, notorious for their brutality, define this race as a test of both physical prowess and mental fortitude. The names of these iconic climbs, such as the Muur van Geraardsbergen and the Oude Kwaremont, resonate among fans and riders alike, each cobblestone telling a story of its own. Moreover, the atmosphere surrounding the Tour of Flanders is unparalleled. The fervour of the Belgian and international crowds creates an electrifying ambiance along the route. The cheers, the music, the aroma of waffles mingling with the scent of Belgian beer—it's a sensory extravaganza that transcends mere sport. The passion of the spectators becomes an integral part of the race, propelling riders through the gruelling terrain. But what truly sets the Tour of Flanders apart is its ability to encapsulate the essence of cycling—a blend of agony and ecstasy, of strategy and sheer endurance. The unpredictability of the race, where a puncture or a mistimed attack can alter the narrative in an instant, keeps spectators on the edge of their seats. It's a ballet of tactics and raw power, where the strongest don't always emerge victorious, but the most resilient often do. For any cycling enthusiast, witnessing the Tour of Flanders in person is akin to experiencing the soul of the sport. It's a chance to witness legends in the making, to feel the pulse of the peloton as it navigates through history-laden roads. Whether you're a fan of the classics or simply appreciate the sheer spectacle of human determination, the Tour of Flanders offers an unrivalled experience that lingers in the memory long after the dust settles. In the end, it's not merely a race; it's a celebration of cycling's heritage, an ode to the relentless pursuit of greatness, and a spectacle that transcends sport itself.
