INTRODUCING LETICIA We are thrilled to introduce Letícia Cordeiro Brito, the project leader behind Huracan FC Panteras 🇵🇹, our first-ever project in Portugal! Originally from Brazil, Letícia holds a degree in Biomedical Sciences and moved to Portugal to pursue a Master’s in Innovation in Education at the Universidade de Lisboa. Her passion for educational innovation and promoting equity drives her work, and she is dedicated to creating meaningful change through football ⚽. At Escola Básica do Vale da Amoreira (EBVA), a multicultural school serving communities from diverse backgrounds, Huracan FC Panteras was founded. The team reflects the school’s cultural richness, with players from Portugal, Cape Verde, Angola, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé, India, Brazil, Mozambique, and Senegal. But this project is about far more than football. Letícia has created a space that tackles critical social issues like menstrual health education, gender equality, and citizenship. Boys are actively invited to participate as allies, fostering respect and empowering the role of girls in a sport traditionally dominated by men. The club also combats violence, racism, and cultural divides, uniting the community through a shared love of football. 🗣️ “My goal is to support these girls in their journeys while encouraging boys to become allies. Together, we are building a community that shows football is a powerful tool to promote equality, respect, and hope. In the end, football is just the beginning. Here, we are building a community rooted in equality and friendship”. Welcome to the team, Letícia! We are so excited to see Huracan FC Panteras take flight and soar high under your leadership 🎈 #TheHuracanFoundation #HuracanFCPanteras #FootballForGood #Portugal #EducationAndFootball #BreakingBarriers #EmpoweringCommunities

We inspire educators to use football in transforming educational outcomes and tackling social problems.
About us
Our story began with a Sunday league team from England called Huracan FC London, named after a team from Argentina, Club Atletico Huracán. In 2010, the fans of the real Huracan started to follow us on Facebook and an amazing story began. A story of shared passion. When we visited Argentina in 2011, we knew our story had the potential to get even better. We returned home, and with over 5,000 Facebook likes, we decided to set some global goals. Today, the Huracan Foundation has a simple but unique vision. Firstly, we give financial support to a selection of grassroots charities and initiatives (run by teachers from the Teach For All network) that use football to inspire children and improve education. Secondly, we are creating a collaborative international network between these organizations. We’re currently supporting projects in Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Nepal and the Philippines. We’re creating a global brand for Huracan because every project we support includes a team with our name. We’re going to keep the Huracan balloon flying high as a symbol of using the power of football to inspire children and improve education across the world. The Huracan Foundation. Shared Passion. Global Goals.

KICK OFF WEEK 2024 - DAY 2 🚀 Today we continued with the second day of Kick Off Week 2024, full of learning and key moments for our new Project Leaders. With Becca Sims, our Programme Coordinator, the Project Leaders had an enriching day: 🤝 Alumni exchange: Project Leaders met with old members of The Huracan Foundation | Football for Development, who shared valuable learnings and tips for the success of their initiatives. 💰 Budgeting: we explored the basics of a budget: how to plan it, use it, and report it. Leaders began building their project budgets using our template. 📆 The year ahead: we reviewed the support available during the year, set clear expectations and discussed what additional resources would be useful for their projects. Meanwhile, Flo Lloyd-Hughes, trustee, journalist, author and broadcaster, led a practical session on communications, marketing and social media. Project Leaders analysed different platforms, identified which ones they will use and why, and started writing their stories, as well as drafting their first social media post 🤳. The excitement continues to grow, with more to come tomorrow! ⚽ #TheHuracanFoundation #KickOffWeek #Huracán #EducationAndFootball #EducationForAll #BreakingBarriers #SharedPassion #GlobalGoals #FootballForTheGoals #FootballForDevelopment #FootballForGood #AwayDaysFootballTravel #TogetherWeCan #FootballForDevelopment #EducationMatters

KICK OFF WEEK 2024 🚀 Today we kicked off Kick Off Week 2024 to welcome new project leaders to The Huracan Foundation | Football for Development. This annual event, which spans three days, is key to defining the goals and commitments that will guide our work for the rest of this year and into 2025. The day, which was led with great dedication by our Programme Coordinator, Becca Sims, began with an inspiring speech from our founder, Henry May, who shared the story of The Huracan Foundation, reminding us why we do what we do and renewing our passion for the impact we make. In addition, new project leaders had the opportunity to introduce themselves, sharing who they are and what they hope to achieve with their projects. In another key moment of the day, our trustee and Delivery and Impact Director in Access Sport, Hayley B., gave a session on how we measure the impact of our projects, an essential tool to evaluate and maximise the results of each effort 📊. This was only the first day and already we can feel the enthusiasm and collaboration that will mark the coming days. Thank you to everyone who has made this event possible and to the new leaders who are ready to join this incredible mission. Kick Off Week 2024 is full of promise, and it's just beginning! ⚽🎈 #TheHuracanFoundation #KickOffWeek #Huracán #EducationAndFootball #EducationForAll #BreakingBarriers #SharedPassion #GlobalGoals #FootballForTheGoals #FootballForDevelopment #FootballForGood #AwayDaysFootballTravel #TogetherWeCan #FootballForDevelopment #EducationMatters

THANK YOU IAN After six years of exceptional leadership, we bid farewell to Ian Milligan, who is stepping down as Chair of The Huracan Foundation | Football for Development. Under his guidance, The Huracan Foundation has gone from strength to strength. We have improved governance with a strong trustees and part time team. Projects supported in Uganda 🇺🇬 , Mexico 🇲🇽 , Armenia🇦🇲, Nigeria 🇳🇬 and even high in the Himalayas of India 🇮🇳 and Nepal 🇳🇵 are testament to his impact as Chair. During his tenure, we significantly grew our funding, enabling us to support 42 projects across 17 countries and transform the lives of more than 4,000 children. We also celebrated our tenth anniversary in Buenos Aires, where more than 30 leaders from 9 different countries joined us, for an inspirational week in a football - mad city where The Huracan Foundation began. 🗣 Our Founder, Henry May, said: 'Ian has taken Huracan to new heights, and has always done so with energy, optimism, and a sense of humour. He’s always been there for our project leaders and our team and leaves a fantastic legacy in place. Thank you, Ian!’ The bar remains high, and we have every confidence that with the arrival of our new chair of trustees, Nick Canning, we will continue to grow and impact more lives. Outgoing Chair, Ian added 'The idea of helping Henry and the rest of The Huracan Foundation team six years ago was one I couldn't resist. Anyone who knows me well knows I'm passionate about the mix of sport, education and it's social impact, especially with kids who through no fault of their own are severely disadvantaged. Time flies, it proved to be one of my best decisions to get involved and I'm excited for Huracan's future under Nick's leadership. For me, Huracan has always been about delivering impact for those 4,000 + children but that only happens through the outstanding project leaders we've supported - some of the most inspiring teachers I've been privilidged to meet. Thanks to all those Huracan trustees, team members, partners, funders and supporters who've helped along the way. And whatever small contribution I've made to Huracan's progress, I've had 10x in return.'.. Thank you, Ian, for your great leadership and service over the years. #TheHuracanFoundation #Huracán #EducationAndFootball #EducationForAll #BreakingBarriers #SharedPassion #GlobalGoals #FootballForTheGoals #FootballForDevelopment #FootballForGood #TogetherWeCan #FootballForDevelopment #EducationMatters

A BOOK AND A BALL 📖⚽. At School No. 20133, the children of Huracán FC Castilla 🇵🇪 were thrilled. After months of effort, they finally inaugurated the new school library. This space had not only books, but also many learning possibilities. But there was a problem: the students did not have the habit of reading built in. 💡 But the Huracan FC Castilla team had a great idea: to create the Huracan Reading Club, a group designed to motivate young people and make reading fun. From day one, the club became a special place: the students would meet, chat about books and discuss their ideas. Each week they would choose a book together. Then they would talk about what they liked, what they didn't like, and what they learned. Over time, they learned to listen to and respect each other's opinions. These values not only remained in the club, but they also applied them at school and in their daily lives 👏. The library, which was empty before, was filled with life. It was a place to read, but also to laugh and make friends. Thus, the Huracán Reading Club achieved more than they expected. Not only did it awaken a love of books, but it also brought the students together, teaching them the power of respect, empathy and friendship. Today, Huracán FC Castilla continues to show that, with both a book and a ball, doors can be opened to new adventures and connections 🎈. #TheHuracanFoundation #Peru #HuracanFCCastilla #EducationAndFootball #EducationForAll #BreakingBarriers #SharedPassion #GlobalGoals #FootballForTheGoals #FootballForDevelopment #FootballForGood #AwayDaysFootballTravel #TogetherWeCan #FootballForDevelopment #EducationMatters

SKY CLUB SUPER ACADEMY ⚽ We have great news from Uganda 🇺🇬: Our project leader, Willy Canwat, has decided to create the Sky Club Super Academy 🎓. This academy will be a semi-autonomous programme designed for the top boys and girls of the Huracan FC Sky Club. It aims to provide them with the necessary tools to achieve their dreams in professional football, combining high-level training with academic development 📚⚽. Why an academy? Canwat and his team have identified incredible potential in many of their participants. Some of them dream of becoming footballers and have the talent to achieve it 💪 What will the Sky Club Super Academy offer? 🎯 Specialised technical and tactical coaching 🏋️ Physical conditioning and mental preparation 📘 Academic follow-up and personal development 🏆 Participation in leagues, tournaments and friendlies 🤝 Commitment to the community and teamwork The academy seeks to develop well-rounded players, both on and off the pitch, fostering values such as discipline, respect and effort. 🗣️ Canwat believes that "It's the best we can do for children who don't come to the project just to have fun, but have a great interest in the sport. Football is improving a lot in Uganda, and a few or dozens of them could really need this kind of opportunity in their lives". We keep betting on sport as a tool for social change! Well done, Canwat 🎈 #HuracanFCSkyClub #Huracán #Uganda #GlobalCommunity #SocialDevelopment #FootballForChange #TheHuracanFoundation #EducationAndFootball #EducationForAll #BreakingBarriers #SharedPassion #GlobalGoals #FootballForTheGoals #FootballForDevelopment #FootballForGood #AwayDaysFootballTravel #TogetherWeCan

THE LEGACY Last week we received a very special message from Alfredo, former project leader of Huracan FC Chile 🇨🇱, a project supported by The Huracan Foundation | Football for Development in 2018. After the COVID-19 pandemic, the project, which linked education and sport through workshops designed to develop social skills, had to close its doors temporarily. But like any good Quemero, Huracán FC Chile came back stronger than ever, and this has been one of the best years in its history. Today, more than 200 boys and girls are actively involved, playing not only football, but also other sports such as volleyball and basketball. Huracán FC Chile has not only re-emerged, but is flying higher than ever 🎈. 🗣️ In Alfredo's words: "We still use the kit we were given at the time, we take great care of it. Also, we are very up to date with Huracán because of the Chileans Echeverría and Alarcón who are currently playing for Club Atlético Huracán. We are always aware of everything they do in the foundation and the Hurricanes in the world". Messages like these remind us that the legacy of change we can leave is ultimately the most important mission of The Huracan Foundation. LET'S CONTINUE TO GLOBALISE THE WORLD 🎈🎈🎈🎈 #HuracanFCChile #Chile #TheHuracanFoundation #KickOffWeek #Huracan #EducationAndFootball #EducationForAll #BreakingBarriers #SharedPassion #GlobalGoals #FootballForTheGoals #FootballForDevelopment #FootballForGood #AwayDaysFootballTravel #TogetherWeCan #FootballForDevelopment #EducationMatters
