We were deeply moved by the powerful story shared by our Children’s Aid Foundation scholarship recipient, Anna Amy Ho, at this year’s sold-out Holiday Luncheon on December 6. Her story highlighted the strength and resilience of this amazing organization – and the critical need for donations. Thanks to your support, we raised $17,779 including late donations – nearly double last year’s amount! A big shout out to Tim📌 Byrne (curtainwall)🦺 for contributing $2,000 to this impressive total. This brings the total raised for Children’s Aid Foundation to an astounding $161,500 since 2006. What a great day two at The Buildings Show! Our Property Management Roundtable: Building Decarbonization for 2025 was one of the many highlights of the day. Here are some high-level takeaways: 💡 Michael Pathak P.Eng, CEM, MASc, Toronto Hydro - Toronto Hydro’s electricity grid is ready for electrification. - The grid will expand prudently over time to support your needs. - Connect with Toronto Hydro early in your project planning for tailored electrification solutions. 💡 Rae Anne Miller, P.Eng, MBA, City of Toronto. - The City’s Building Emissions Performance Standards (BEPS) will set reasonable and achievable emissions targets. - Equity and affordability are guiding principles in BEPS development under the TransformTO framework. - New programs and resources will support compliance and enable voluntary retrofits beyond mandatory requirements. 💡 Ashley Jones, SOFIAC - Facility-wide approaches are the key to effective decarbonization. - Innovative financial solutions can help meet decarbonization goals while staying budget-neutral or even cash flow positive. - Decarbonization studies drive value when paired with immediate action.
