Bill’s childhood was marked by instability. He spent years moving between homes and schools, often with no steady figure to guide him. “While others were learning Shakespeare or advanced math, I felt like I was just trying to catch up.” Thanks to the support of Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada, Bill was able to change his future. Through scholarships and financial aid, he got the chance to pursue post-secondary education—a dream that once seemed impossible. Your kindness can change lives like Bill’s. Every donation will be MATCHED by our generous donors Joe and Laurissa Canavan, helping even more youth access the education they deserve. Be the kindness that transforms futures. It is with immense sadness that we mourn the devastating loss of Alisha, a beloved member of the Children's Aid Foundation of Canada community. Alisha was a fierce advocate for children and youth in care. From her early days as a member of our Young People’s Advisory Council in 2016 to her work as a mentor and youth ambassador, she dedicated her life to creating a better future for those who shared her experiences. Her unwavering determination, her compassion, and her voice for change inspired all who knew her. Alisha was more than an advocate; she was a leader, a mentor, and a friend whose impact will continue to shape our work and our hearts. We wish to share our sincerest condolences with her family and friends, and we recognize those grieving this profound loss within the broader community of First Voice Advocates and those with lived experience in care. For former youth from care who may be struggling with this news, please know that support is available. We’ve linked resources in below. As we reflect on Alisha’s incredible life and legacy, let us honour her by continuing the work she cared about so deeply. Together, we’ll carry her strength and vision forward.
