Canada needs more rental housing. Our VP of Research Services and Strategy, Wendy Waters, participated in the rental housing development panel at the Toronto Real Estate Forum last week. Our research shows the following: 1️⃣ Canada is undersupplied of purpose-built rental housing by over 1 million units. 2️⃣ Although more rental housing is under construction than ever before, it is not enough and not being developed evenly across the country. 3️⃣ Proportionally far more is under construction in Vancouver, Calgary and Halifax than Toronto 4️⃣ Renters already living in the city are the most typical renters moving into new construction; in doing so, many vacate older less expensive units, improving affordability for others As a sponsor of Canadian Real Estate Forums, we want to drive the conversations that inform the future of the commercial real estate industry.
