👋 🏙️ Meet Edmonton’s tallest condo tower! In the ICE District’s core with stunning River Valley views, Encore Tower is hard to miss. This mixed-use development stands tall at 138 metres with 179 suites. 🤩 🏗️ 👷 RJC worked hard to oversee the structural engineering & building science behind this exciting project for the community. The site was small, so building up into the sky was a solution. A slender tower with a cross-shaped floor plan makes it possible to max out the number of suites allowed in the area. 👆 It also means we got to take advantage of sweeping city views & natural light, all while lowering building mass. Expansive views in every direction come to life with lots of glazing. 👀 🙌 The impressive structure is made with reinforced, cast-in-place concrete. 💡 Fun fact: The raft slab at the bottom of Parking P6 called for roughly 2,500 cubic metres of concrete alone! Then, RJCers levelled up the design’s efficiency by using beams at Level 4 to transfer the parking column grid into a residential column grid. Day & night at Calgary’s newest landmark! 🏙️ 👉 🌆 Adding 565K square feet, the BMO Centre expansion was the engineering project of a lifetime. 👷♀️ 💪 RJC worked hard to level up this destination spot. The jaw-dropping framework is made of 9,000 metric tonnes of steel. Behind the scenes, we collaborated with Seattle’s Magnusson Klemencic Associates to look after BMO Centre’s structural engineering. The result is Western Canada’s largest convention venue. Ready in time for the 2024 Stampede, this new & improved space puts Calgary on a world stage. Maysoun Ismaiel is abroad in Cairo, Egypt for an international conference on the future of urban development. 🇪🇬 👷♀️ 🚀 An Edmonton-based Design Engineer, Maysoun brings a wealth of knowledge in building science & restoration. 💡 She is excited to share ideas on how to adjust analytical methods to better estimate the effective thermal resistance of masonry veneer walls. Construction is underway at Lewis Farms Facility and Park Project! 🏗️ This exciting development will feature a multi-purpose rec centre, a district park & an Edmonton Public Library branch. 🙌 💡 Did you know the impressive aquatic centre will be 52.8K square feet? RJC is thrilled to work on this game-changing project for the community alongside our partners at the City of Edmonton & PCL Construction.
