What better way to re-acquaint yourself with the Irish weather than participating in a sleep-out? On a more serious note, Ireland is a very different place than the country I left 15 years ago, and has made so much progress across so many economic and societal dimensions. Sadly, addressing homelessness is not one of them, and this is now a much more prevalent issue than it was when I left these shores. As we all know this is a complex issue and in 2024, there are over 14,000 people in homelessness across Ireland, including more than 4,000 children. An organization that is making a meaningful difference in tacking this problem is Focus Ireland. In 2023, Focus Ireland supported 18,000+ people, with 1,100 Households exiting homelessness, and 1,200 additional Households assisted in keeping their home. To help them make an even bigger contribution in the future, I’ll be taking part in a nationwide sleep-out alongside hundreds of others for their ‘Shine A Light’ campaign. This initiative aims to raise essential funds and awareness for the thousands of people, including children and families, who are facing homelessness. If you’d like to support this important cause, please click the below link. Thank you! focusireland's Shine A Light, proudly supported by Bord Gáis Energy. You can sign up to participate in Shine A Light or donate towards my fundraising target on my fundraising page below: https://lnkd.in/dEwhAyzk #SleepOutAgainstHomelessness

Sometimes the best thing that you can give someone is simply, your time. In the spirit of Christmas, I'm supporting Matthew Hook's efforts (below) to raise money for Shelter and matching his offer for 1 hour sessions with me between now and Christmas, with 100% of the fee going to the charity. I'll do prep, a one hour virtual call, and follow up recommendations or reading. So if you're wanting to: ✨ reset for the year ahead and get fresh eyes on your plan ✨ wrestling with a strategic challenge ✨ wanting to shift direction professionally / a mentor session ✨ get an external perspective on a big pitch opportunity or your story ✨ gain expertise on the fashion / beauty / luxury / lifestyle landscape Then get in touch... you can either pay me and I'll donate, or donate to them directly. Either DM me or email on caroline@wearelookup.com And let's make this bigger! If you're able to offer up your own time to help others at Christmas, please do pass this on 🎄 #giving #strategy #consultancy
A quick fundraising update: a chance to get some strategic clarity, and raise some money for Shelter… Every winter, as we are getting ready for the festive period at home, my family does some fundraising for Shelter. The work Shelter does is essential in supporting people to deal with the hard realities of homelessness, especially at this time when the injustice of homelessness is most stark. As part of this, I’m putting out a block of 1-hour sessions between now and Christmas, with 100% of the proceeds of those sessions going to Shelter. They will be charged for in the normal way - £300 per hour – and for that I’ll do some pre-prep, run a 1-hour virtual session, and then send a follow-up with recommendations and further reading if relevant. Some ideas of ways you might want to use this time: - Getting a second pair of eyes on your plan for 2025 - Or having a first conversation about 2025 if you‘re not there yet! - Providing some mentorship support for a strategy team leader - Doing a high-speed pitch review - Getting an expert perspective on the current marketing & media landscape But within reason, you can use this time however you like! As above, 100% of the proceeds will go to Shelter – either you can pay me and I’ll pay them, or you can pay them directly, whatever works best for you. If you’d like to book a slot, just drop me a message or email matthew@hookstrategy.com Thanks!

Last year, 20,200 young Londoners approached their council as homeless and so we commissioned The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to better understand their experiences - what is working and what needs to change. The report, 'On our side - improving services for young people experiencing homelessness' is a stark insight into the challenges young people face and in accessing support and the pressures councils are under to provide it. There are not quick solutions to these issues but it is important to remember there are solutions if national and local government commit to working alongside charities and young people together. Hopefully this report offers a much needed prompt to start driving change and so ideas for how we might collectively begin to make it happen. Let's talk about housing insecurity. 🏠 What does this mean? It means inadequate housing, frequent moves, couch surfing and more. ⏳ Every four minutes, a young person in the UK becomes homeless. That’s over 370 young people every day - 136,000 young people every year. And it’s going to get worse. As the colder months approach, LandAid is launching the Every Minute Matters campaign aiming to raise £1.36 million, helping thousands of young people facing homelessness. The equivalent of just £1,000 for every young person, these funds will support charities working with young people in crisis, as well as those desperately trying to access move-on and independent accommodation. We’ll also be helping young people find and keep work too. This is part of our new strategy to #EndYouthHomelessness, but we can’t do it alone. The #PropertyIndustry has a unique opportunity to step up and change lives. It’s tough for many of us right now, but what those 136,000 young people are facing is a whole different kind of tough. By supporting LandAid, you’re not just addressing an urgent housing crisis – you’re building long-term solutions that will break the cycle of youth homelessness and provide a better future for our young people. Get in touch with me or the team at partnerships@landaid.org to find out how you can help. Together, we can ensure no young person is left without a home. Now is the time to do something extraordinary. Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/eavKujn8 Alice Lamb, Neil Slater, Gareth Pettit, Tim Hudson Chart. PR Claire Bavister (nee Stone)

Are you MAD? After working with charities on their IT and telecoms for a number of years, Stuart noticed a repeat problem where there was insufficient affordable housing for their service users resulting in homelessness, living in shelters, sofa surfing etc. Let's Make a Difference (MAD) was set up to build a different social housing model where businesses, individuals, and investors could all make a positive impact on their community for generations to come. Creating a new way of approaching the problem MAD is putting processes and assets in place that will last for generations. But, they need our support. Come along to our next meeting to find out how we’re all chipping in to support Stuart 😊 #ReferralMarketing #HousingCrisis
