"I just need to keep growing MRR and everything will take care of itself." I've heard this at least 100 times in the SaaS space I've also seen how some of these companies end up with that type of thinking... Debt, Layoffs, Catastrophe. The SaaS space has a 90% failure rate. "But AI is a booming trend. Rising tides lift all ships!" Only the well-built ones get to stay afloat. And that's why most SaaS companies are poorly run and don't make it. Focusing on sales is not the way. Executives need to avoid chasing revenues without improving their offer. By improving their offer, SaaS companies can now worry about profitability. Even when we look back, the ride is still jolting. And the joke was definitely not on us, as companies doubled layoffs in Q124 vs Q123. GTM Partners' research found that 57% of companies still didn't build enough pipeline as they cut back hard on marketing spend (without a counter strategy). We’re seeing similar marketing strategies and similar positioning from a lot of companies - saving time and saving money are not sufficiently compelling for buyers to buy.
