Improvements to Farnborough town centre are due to begin early in the new year when we will start putting in paving and planters to open up the currently hoarded area opposite Starbucks in the outside part of Princes Mead. The works are part of an important project to enhance the local area, provide a better space for markets and events next year and to generally improve the town centre environment, helping to boost footfall and trade in the town centre. Work starts on January 6 and is expected to take around three months. We apologise for any inconvenience this work may cause – we will try to keep disruption to a minimum. Funding for the project comes from the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

With Christmas now just a month away, we're encouraging our town centre businesses to enter our annual Christmas window competition. Now in its 31st year, we invite businesses from across Aldershot, Farnborough and North Camp to create twinkling festive displays in our town centres. Many of of our independent businesses enter and it's great promotion for local businesses. Over the year's we've seen all sorts of Christmas creativity from balloon sculptures to snowy scenes as well as cheeky elves and Christmas trees. There will be a winner in each town, a people's choice award, and a trophy will be awarded to the overall winner. To find out more and how to enter and vote, see our link in the comments. The closing date is Friday 6 December. The voting will be open from 7 to 13 December and the winners will be announced on 16 December. Here's a few window displays that we have already spotted popping up around Aldershot town centre that are already looking fabulously festive! #aldershot #farnborough #rushmoor #towncentres #shoplocal

Today, to mark Antisocial Behaviour Week, we introduce you to David, 38, who has worked as our Community Safety Manager for the last three years and for the council for 14 years, who will tell us about the roles in the wider team and the type of work they are involved with. Antisocial behaviour is any act that causes, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress. Types of ASB can be neighbourhood disputes, noise nuisance, parking problems or begging and street drinking. There are 24 people in the wider Place Protection team, which includes community safety, licensing, the parking and patrol team and the maintenance team, and this team works closely with our partners to resolve antisocial behaviour disputes, works with street attached people and strives to maintain clean and safe neighbourhoods for residents. A big thank you to everyone who braved the rain and icy wind yesterday to stop and chat with David and his colleague Charlotte, 19, a Place Protection apprentice, at our community safety stall at Farnborough market. We will be available for a chat at our stall in Aldershot market tomorrow (Thursday) from 11-1pm, if you would like to raise an issue about antisocial behaviour or any other community safety concerns. We hope to see you there!

As part of Antisocial Behaviour Week this week, we will have a stall at the market in Farnborough town centre tomorrow (Tuesday) from 11-1pm, and at the market in Aldershot town centre on Thursday, from 11-1pm, where officers will be available to chat about antisocial behaviour or community safety issues. We are supporting national Antisocial Behaviour Week as part of our commitment to make sure residents have clean, safe and vibrant neighbourhoods. Antisocial behaviour is any act that causes, or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to someone, and that can be through various ways, from neighbourhood disputes and noise to parking or street drinking. The overarching theme for the week is #MakingCommunitiesSafer.
