Today, to mark Antisocial Behaviour Week, we introduce you to David, 38, who has worked as our Community Safety Manager for the last three years and for the council for 14 years, who will tell us about the roles in the wider team and the type of work they are involved with. Antisocial behaviour is any act that causes, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress. Types of ASB can be neighbourhood disputes, noise nuisance, parking problems or begging and street drinking. There are 24 people in the wider Place Protection team, which includes community safety, licensing, the parking and patrol team and the maintenance team, and this team works closely with our partners to resolve antisocial behaviour disputes, works with street attached people and strives to maintain clean and safe neighbourhoods for residents. A big thank you to everyone who braved the rain and icy wind yesterday to stop and chat with David and his colleague Charlotte, 19, a Place Protection apprentice, at our community safety stall at Farnborough market. We will be available for a chat at our stall in Aldershot market tomorrow (Thursday) from 11-1pm, if you would like to raise an issue about antisocial behaviour or any other community safety concerns. We hope to see you there!

I look for every opportunity to reach those all-important frontline professionals so I was pleased to speak at the Devon & Cornwall Police Community Safety Accreditation Scheme in Saltash last week. Key takeaways: ⭕ Frontline workers are regularly encountering concerning situations. ⭕ Equipping frontline staff to recognise the signs and feel confident in reporting Modern Slavery is essential – and requires a continual effort. ⭕ Modern Slavery requires a whole system response – encouraging a partnership approach can leave professionals feeling supported and more able to take on the task.

Child Safety Week 2024: Empowering Through Knowledge and Standards As we mark Child Safety Week 2024, the Institute of Registered Case Managers is proud to spotlight our dedication to the safety and protection of children and young people. Our 2023 survey revealed that 23% of our Case Managers focus primarily on this demographic, highlighting the importance of our collective efforts. All Case Managers should be well-versed in safeguarding knowledge and procedures. According to our Standards of Proficiency, Case Managers must: "have knowledge of, and adhere to, any relevant professional standards, codes, guidance, legislation, and policy, acting accordingly to safeguard the service user and others." This requirement ensures that registered Case Managers are equipped with the necessary tools to create safe environments and provide effective support. This week, we celebrate the vital role Case Managers play in protecting the most vulnerable.

🚪💫The Curious Secret Behind Why There's Always Someone There When Mum Opens the Door... Every time Mum goes to the door, Someone's there, just like before. How she knows, I can't see why, When I try, there's no-one by. Feels like magic, every day, Mum or the door, in a special way. Neighbours, postmen, friends so near, Mum always smiles, full of cheer. I try too, but when I peek, No one's there, just our cat, Sleek. Today I asked, feeling small, "Why doesn't the door work for me at all?" She smiled and signed, "It's the bell, my dear, It rings, but you can't hear." Then I knew, and it felt clear, It's not magic, just a sound I can't hear. ✒️We crafted this poem from a true story shared by a deaf individual, highlighting how the mystery of perception and the unknown can make children feel isolated. 📃This Child Safety Week, let's make sure we're not just teaching children about emergencies and safety measures, but also explaining why these things matter. 💡Take, for example, alerting systems like the Bellman Visit System. It uses colours, lights and vibrations to send simple alerts, helping children understand what's happening around them. 💪By showing them the "whys" behind everyday routines, we're not just keeping them safe but also empowering them to feel more confident as they go about their day. #ChildSafetyWeek #Bellman #Accessibility #Deaf #Hoh

⭐ This week marks the start of National Safeguarding Adults Week, an opportunity to raise awareness, spark important conversations, and deepen understanding of safeguarding best practices. This year’s theme, ‘Working in Partnership,’ focuses on sharing knowledge, learning from one another, and building safer cultures for everyone. Here are some key questions to consider as we reflect on safeguarding: Look, Listen, Ask: Are you curious enough to ask the right questions and reflect on the answers? Work in Partnership: How do you support the people in your care? What’s working well, and what can be improved? Set Professional Boundaries: What do healthy relationships look like in and out of work? How do boundaries play a role? Learn and Improve: What successes and challenges have you faced in safeguarding, and what work still needs to be done? Let’s use this week to learn, and continue making a difference. Together, we can strengthen safeguarding practices and ensure safer environments for all. #SafeguardingAdultsWeek #WorkingInPartnership #SaferCultures #safeguardingdisabilities To raise awareness of your service and access a wide range of resources, visit the Ann Craft Trust: https://lnkd.in/em3-Mk92
