Reading about interesting concept for funding affordable housing that is gaining traction in Ontario, I had a few thoughts... In the US, could the bonds be issued by a public agency to gain additional benefits from tax exempt status... Could this concept be used for funding clean energy or resilience activities that can be monetized for repaying the bonds... Could a concept like tax increment financing be used to create the revenue stream for payback that is based on project benefits that accrue across a larger area... https://lnkd.in/gHei_Fzf

Today's news from the Minister of Housing, Communities & Local Govt is even more encouraging about the Long Term Plan for Towns, its confirmed: Its commitment to working with each of the 75 places in the Long-Term Plan for Towns. Notably, the Ministry refers to “places” rather than towns or town centres, signalling a broader, inclusive approach. The refocused programme aims to support the delivery of five national missions Each place set to receive up to £20 million over 10 years to address the root causes of deprivation and drive meaningful renewal. Additional Capacity Funding: An extra £200,000 will be allocated in FY2025/26. Programme Delivery Grants: Funding will begin in FY2026/27, supporting long-term impact. Encouragement to Keep Moving Forward: Communities are advised to continue with their current plans, with reforms designed to strengthen and build upon the progress made to date.
