[#WeAreAccorInvest🙌] She tells stories. At home, they are bedtime, fantasy stories for her 4-year-old son; at work, they are serious, truthful, business stories for all company’s stakeholders. Both are equally important for their target audience, which proves one thing: storytelling is strategic! Meet Cécile Pelletier, Group Media relations, Influence & Advocacy Manager.   Cécile has always had a passion for writing: 🎙️“As a child, I wrote my first articles about Formula 1 car races! I began passionately following #F1 with my father at the age of 5, and my enthusiasm has never waned since.   🏎️I was fascinated by the speed, the teams, the mechanic features, and above all, the strategy – yes, it takes strategy to make sure the driver and his car will cross the finish line! It was complex, intense, and I simply had to tell stories about it.   👩🎓I studied at Sciences Po Aix, in my home town in Southern France, before moving to Paris for my master’s degree in communication and journalism.   For my first job, I was a journalist for a French news website; at the time, the 2007 French presidential election gave me plenty of hands-on experience!   I then moved on to various communication agencies, where I spent nearly 12 years embracing the full scope of corporate communication.   🎯Every new client had its complexity and challenges, I needed to understand the “why and how” of each situation, pinpoint the messages to deliver, focus the comms approach on the specific audience we were targeting…   That’s how I met #Accor, back in 2010; over the years, I contributed to many of their communication actions, including the Booster project 🚀which led to the creation of #AccorInvest in 2017.   I kept supporting AccorInvest from the agency side until 2021, when I joined the Group’s Communication department to work on internal communication during a colleague’s maternity leave. In 2022, when AccorInvest’s new comms organization was set up, I was appointed as Group Media Relations, Influence & Advocacy Manager   Communication goes far beyond providing information: it gives meaning! As sociologist Dominique Wolton said🎤"𝘐𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘦, 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱”. Communication explains, embarks, inspires… That’s why having the right storytelling is essential.   Bearing in mind that external and internal communication constantly reinforce one another: 👉externally, we protect and build our company’s reputation, attract talent, influence trends and gain leadership; 👉internally, we explain our vision and direction, report on our initiatives, and thus contribute to engagement.   As such, communication is fully involved in the business strategy and performance, and covers the entire company: a role which I consider as both a responsibility and a privilege!”   #Communications #Storytelling #CareerJourney #Stories

My PR job is sometimes pretty cool. And this this week it's doubly cool 🚀 🚀 ! On Thursday I came back from Berlin where 2nd gathering of internal and external communication experts from IONOS Group took place. We shared best practices and exchanged knowledge. We had the opportunity to talk about challenges, which ended with the conclusion that together we are able to do much more than just “good PR” (I hate that term, but here it fits uniquely 😅). Thanks each of You for the time together: Heike Kiefer; Chelsea Hopkins; Karen Graeper; Sabrina Waltz; Noelle Caroline Feuer Andreas Maurer; Thomas Ritter; Thilo Haertel; Alvaro Rudiez Herce; Frank Zopp; Simone Catania; Colin Brandl; Stephan Gramkow. The perfect end to this inspiring week was today's conference “Management in the Age of Change” organized on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of House of Skills. Surprisingly (or maybe not surprisingly at all 🤔 ) a lot of the presented reports and speeches were devoted to the role of communication in organizations. Also need for transparency, involving employees in company initiatives and... appreciation. This is nothing but an important activity at the crossroads of PR and HR. And finally, 2 concluding thoughts from the conference, which I'm writing down for myself, not to forget🤞🙌: 1. We as humans are ultra-social creatures 🤜🤛 . This means that we pay extreme attention to the emotional sphere (also at work) and appreciation as well as the feeling of being heard and seen has astonishing power. 2. Efficiency has not one definition, and it certainly does not have the name of “working 24/7” or desperately searching for ideas under time pressure. The best solutions and reflections paradoxically come in a moment of pause and catching distance🧘♀️🍀. From the perspective of this week, I confirmed both of these thoughts by example and I already know that I will step into Monday with a whole new energy 🚀 .

Hospitality to Public Relations: How My Journey Has Prepared Me for My Next Chapter Over the past 7 years, I have worked in the hospitality industry in all types of roles. From working behind the scenes as a line cook, to serving as the main point of contact as a hostess and server, to ultimately managing an entire restaurant. I have had the opportunity to view the industry from all angles. With this perspective, I’ve had the privilege of working directly with diverse clientele, managing high-pressure situations, and crafting memorable experiences. From creating seamless guest services to handling crisis communication, hospitality has given me a toolkit of skills that extend far beyond the restaurant industry.  Now that I look back, I’m reflecting on the many ways my experience has prepared me for success in my new path in to Public Relations. ✨ Relationship Building: Whether with guests or sales representatives, cultivating trust through authentic connections is key. Hospitality has taught me to listen, understand needs, and create tailored experiences—skills vital for storytelling. 💬 Communication Under Pressure: Hospitality has refined my ability to stay calm, communicate effectively, and respond swiftly in high-pressure situations, essential for PR in fast-paced environments. 🔍 Attention to Detail: It's the tiniest details that elevate the ordinary to the extraordinary. A focus on precision and excellence in hospitality developed my sharp eye for detail, crucial for crafting flawless PR campaigns. 🌍 Cultural Sensitivity: Working with diverse guests taught me to navigate cultural differences and tailor messaging—critical for connecting with global audiences in PR. What lies ahead is still uncertain, but the opportunities are limitless.  As I step into this new chapter, I’m excited to bring my skills in communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving with me. This week, our team at Staffbase will hold our annual North American / International Voices conference (https://lnkd.in/esiH2Qrw). Two weeks ago, I returned from Berlin, where we did the same with our German speaking audience. Both events got oversubscribed. Whilst Berlin was an in-person conference, we made the decision to host the English speaking one virtually, to allow communicators and those who care about communications, to attend from wherever they are. We will have audience joining from all parts of the world. This is super exciting! Apart from having lined up amazing speakers, including one of my favourite business book authors, Adam Grant, I feel that the numbers of registrations, that far exceeded our original plan, tell even a bigger story. As a former consultant at Accenture, I was fortunate to see change programmes delivered from the first intent all the way to implementation and measurable business outcomes. Accenture is great at this! We always knew and appreciated the value of behavioural change management, which we nowadays talk about as an organisational change management, business transformation, or many other terms you surely hear in various business meetings. To do this well, our programmes would have always come with a strong foundation and a well thought out communication strategy. But why do it at only a project level? Why wouldn’t we be thinking about the right comms, at the right time, to the right audience, all the time? There is surely more we can do! It’s apparently many of us out there who care about this and who have been thinking that way all along. At Staffbase we are here to partner with this community to help elevate communications as a strategic business function strongly aligned to business goals. After all, according to Gallagher’s State of the sector 2023/2024, the biggest increase in the communication professionals’ priorities was the need of strategic alignment of their function to their business, by a whopping 9% increase year-on-year. This time last week, the Fourth Day PR & Content and Quatrième Jour : Relations Presse & Publiques teams were heading back from Italy after another successful annual off-site. ✈ Here are a few things we learned during our time together: 1.   Although we work well together online, there’s nothing quite like getting together in person. (OK we knew this already, which is why we have off-sites. But it’s always a slight revelation how much it matters.) 2.   It’s about the people as much as the work. Many stories were shared which helped us to understand one another better, so we thought we’d share some of them with you too: ·     Danny Ward (Manchester) and Christelle Robin Velut (Paris) talked about their weekly bilingual chat, which has not only improved their language skills but has built up a firm friendship between the two of them.. 🤝 ·     We heard about the love that exists in the community of heavy rockers, as Rachel Murray talked about some of her pro bono PR work. We also discovered, as she sorted out wine tastings over the phone and chatted to our hosts, that Rachel’s Italian is totally fluent. 🤘 ·     Our social team explained how the UK and French teams now function as one, thanks to increased collaboration. ·     Maha BENNANI’s expanding network in Morocco made us all think more about the opportunities for the tech sector in Africa. ·     And who knew that Antoine Billon is becoming an expert in joinery? 3.   Finally, while sharing wine, pasta and cheese, we discovered that there are a LOT of courses when dining the Italian way. Several weeks of abstinence may follow. 🍷 🧀 😎
