The "December Doctrine Paragon: Counterland Air Interdiction" highlights the pivotal role of Misty Forward Air Controllers during the Vietnam War, showcasing their daring missions to disrupt enemy supply lines along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. It underscores how their innovative tactics shaped modern air interdiction and forward air control practices. It's important to reflect on this historical example to educate and inspire Airmen about the enduring importance of air interdiction in military strategy. We also complement the article with our recent podcast on Counterland Doctrine for further exploration. LeMay Center for Doctrine Development and Education Raymond T. The U.S. Air Force is reintroducing warrant officers after a 65-year hiatus to enhance its cyber and IT capabilities. The aim is to strengthen its position in digital warfare, particularly in the context of strategic competition with China. These #warrant officers will be a critical link between warfighters and leadership on technical issues, acting as professionals, technical integrators, and trusted advisors. Their specialized expertise will give the Air Force a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving digital domain. The Air Force's Warrant Officer Training School at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, has developed an eight-week program to train these individuals, focusing on five foundational principles: communicate, advise, influence, innovate, and integrate. This initiative reflects the Air Force's commitment to adapting its force structure to meet the demands of modern warfare and to counter the digital strategies employed by adversaries like China effectively. Sharing an experience of service for the next generation of leaders. #Leadership #CJCS #Success General CQ Brown, Jr.
Today marks 40 years since my Dad administered the oath of office and I was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. As I reflect on my time in uniform, I think about what initially inspired me to serve. During my senior year in high school, my Dad, an Army veteran who twice served in Vietnam, an ROTC instructor, and eventually a retired Colonel, told me: “Four years in the military won’t hurt you.” He then encouraged me to apply for ROTC scholarships. After applying to all the Services, I ultimately selected the Air Force because I wanted to be an engineer. My initial plan was to serve for four years and move back to Texas. But after an incentive flight in a T-37 Training Jet following my sophomore year, a new aspiration was set – Air Force Fighter Pilot! Over my 40 years, I’ve had so many unique, exciting, and sometimes challenging opportunities far exceeding my own expectations. I’ve traveled to every continent, piloted 21 different fixed and rotary-wing aircraft, deployed in support of multiple operations around the world, commanded at every level across the Joint Force, worked with some of our Nation’s best, and met people from all walks of life - all in support of the security and defense of our Nation. I have been able to do and experience things that most people only read about. We all have our own motivations to serve – whether in or out of uniform. My Dad inspired me to join the military, but it has been the professionals I’ve worked with, the experiences I’ve had, the people I’ve met, and the places I’ve been that inspired me to stay. Whether it's four years or four decades, serving in the military will provide plenty of opportunities and experiences to make you a better person and a better leader. We all have a responsibility to inspire the next generation. Share your story of what inspired you to serve.

#ACSCAY25 completed its first semester of course work today! 🎉 There were understandably lots of yawns in class today because of back-to-back final papers due on Monday and Tuesday, but students still found time to engage with the reading! They also heard the last of our four-part lecture series from air planners. Lt Col Brian “Foreman” Hellesto not only provided key context on OIR but he also concluded by giving students a number of recommendations for future success, including actively seeking out people at new positions and establishing supportive relationships.
