  • The Air Force Wargaming Institute assisted the first Air Force Warrant Officer Training School (WOTS) instructors and candidates in learning the board wargame Air Force Wargame Indo-Pacific. WOTS has created a lesson plan around the board wargame to allow all the candidates to meet the school's three program learning outcomes: Professional Warfighter, Technical Integrator, and Credible Advisor. Through gameplay, the candidates were able to demonstrate military professionalism and decision-making skills used in mission execution throughout the continuum of warfare operations. In addition, they demonstrate leadership and followership skills that foster innovation and facilitate the integration of people, organizations, and effects to achieve the mission. Finally, in a Credible Advisor role, they were able to hone their effective communication skills, informed by technical knowledge, to advise command teams toward effective decision-making. Lt Col Sterling Boyer, the Director of Curriculum Design for the Jeanne M. Holm Center for Officer Accessions and Citizen Development, said this about the board wargame Air Force Wargame Indo-Pacific, “The game added a means and purpose to developing, researching, and engaging with their educational curriculum from the previous 6 weeks of school that focused on warfare, GPC, the competition continuum, and joint publications; and enabled an “aha” moment during the Mission Analysis Pre-brief, post-mission brief, and final After-action report.” If you would like to learn more about the Air Force Warrant Officer Training School: USAF Warrant Officer Training School opens doors at Maxwell AFB > Air Force > Article Display If you would like to know more about the Air Force Wargaming Institute or any of our board game options, please reach out to us here: Air Force Wargaming Institute Contact Us

  • The Air Force Wargaming Institute and other members from the Lemay Center supported the Air Force Material Command (AFMC) with key leadership roles in the Science and Technology ‘24 wargame that took place at Louisiana Tech Research Institute (LTRI) in Bossier City. In attendance were 140 people from HAF, 8 Major Commands, plus 2 Allied Partner nations. The Air Force Wargaming Institute provided support leading the adjudication, red, mobility, and naval operations teams. During the Science and Technology ‘24 wargame, over 40 new weapons systems concepts, in design and operational testing, were examined for effectiveness in an INDOPACOM combat environment. The wargame moves were incorporated from two Air Force level wargames the Air Force Wargaming Institute supported earlier in the year: Global Engagement (GE) and Long-Duration Logistic Wargame (LDLW). Implementing the concept of new weapons systems positively changed the outcome of the GE and LDLW wargames and provided strategic insight to senior leader decision-making on future USAF investments. • The Air Force Wargaming Institute has been busy enhancing the decision-making abilities of all Airmen by using our board game, Air Force Wargame Indo-Pacific, which is framed around a multi-domain air-centric fight in INDOPACOM. The game is well-suited for everyone. Not only does it highlight capabilities, but it also strengthens strategic thinking and decision-making skills to achieve campaign objectives. Recently, we introduced AFWI as a wargaming option to the Civilian Intelligence Functional Advisory Council when they met at the Civilian Leadership Development School. The council enjoyed the game and appreciated its ability to conceptualize force integration. Mr. Eric O'Leary, OSI’s Specialist Functional manager who leads training, development and management of intelligence specialists, expressed he is looking forward to incorporating wargaming at the highest echelons in OSI.   Link: https://lnkd.in/ezb_WiGB If you would like to know more about the Air Force Wargaming Institute or our board game AFWI, please reach out to us here: Air Force Wargaming Institute Contact Us: https://lnkd.in/eG2W8kC8

  • The Air Force Wargaming Institute provides tactical to strategic-level wargames educating and training senior warfighters, commanders and their staffs. The wargames range in focus from joint-warfare, with air, space, and cyberspace to strengthening decision-making ability with combat scenarios, to humanitarian relief and homeland defense. Additionally, we support Air University schools, and other Department of the Air Force, DOD and international customers. In a typical year, the Air Force Wargaming Institute plans, develops, conducts, or supports over 30 wargames and exercises. The institute does this by using board games, table-top exercises, and seminars providing commanders, and their staffs, the opportunity to study warfare realistically and identify problems in peacetime before they face them in combat.
