We recently held our Winter Escape, which is time spent together as a team away from the office. Escapes are an important part of life at Moorhouse to enable our people to re-connect and spend time with one other, while having a bit of fun. In our usual Moorhouse style we looked back over the year and discussed what’s in store for 2025. We celebrated our award winners and of course we supported our amazing charity partner, Power2 with our annual raffle. A big THANK YOU to the organising team! ✨

Last week we hosted a roundtable event focused on financial sustainability in the higher education sector. You can read more below about the discussion that took place, which included learnings from an NHS Finance Director. We’ll share more insights on this topic in the coming months, but please get in touch with Kieran Cooke if you’d like to arrange a conversation.
This week Moorhouse | B Corp Certified hosted senior leaders from across the HE sector to discuss financial sustainability. We had a Finance Director from an NHS trust share some insights on how they have addressed similar challenges. This prompted a rich discussion which surfaced some important themes including: - The importance of culture in improving financial sustainability and key enablers of this including having a shared vision, well-developed financial literacy and strong leadership capability. - Achieving the right balance between tactical and strategic actions, framed around an explicit purpose of improving financial sustainability. - Distinguishing between what’s in the university’s control vs what’s required from a policy level to deliver improved financial sustainability Over the next few months, we’ll be sharing more detailed insights around these themes in supporting universities to achieve increased financial sustainability. If you’d like to find out more, please do get in touch.

Last week we had the pleasure of hosting the Women in Nuclear UK London and South-East branch networking event. We were thrilled to welcome over 40 attendees from across the nuclear and professional services industries. The theme for the event was culture and people-centric organisations, providing a platform for open and honest discussions. During the introduction, we conducted a quick poll on the aspects of work culture that matter most to the audience. The top 3 factors were: - Focus on mental health and wellbeing - A sense of purpose - A sense of community at work We also took this opportunity to launch our new report which delves into the people and cultural challenges currently shaping the nuclear industry. You can read it here https://lnkd.in/eKHV8rBy We’d love to hear your thoughts and explore the topic further. Please reach out to our Nuclear Energy Client Director, Rebecca Farooq MCMI ChMC to arrange a coffee catch-up. We hope all attendees enjoyed the event as much as we did. We look forward to seeing you all (and more) at the next WiN event! If you would like to get involved in the Women in Nuclear L&SE branch, please contact the interim Chair Laure Fievet MCMI ChMC.

2025 will be another important year for the energy industry as it takes big strides towards the delivery of Market-Wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS). The changes brought about by MHHS will impact hundreds of organisations including suppliers, DNOs, data providers, generators, and code bodies. It will be a make-or-break year for many organisations that need to make enterprise-wide changes to their technology and business processes to thrive in a post-MHHS environment. Our article highlights the key opportunities and challenges that exist for organisations in the delivery of MHHS and argues that becoming an early adopter will attract new customers and reduce costs from day one.
