Congratulations to our long-term partner, Charter Hall and anchor tenant, Australia Post on the opening of 480 Swan St. Delivered ahead of schedule, 480 Swan St is a standout example of how we leverage our digital-first approach to streamline complex elements, such as the underground relocation of Swan St powerlines, and achieve early handovers. "480 Swan stands as a testament to how innovation can reshape construction. Our digital-first approach redefines planning and building to bring new benefits to both the community and the built environment," said Ross Walker, National Director, Built. With a striking structure and bespoke design, the recently completed The University of Queensland Dr Mary Mahoney AO Amphitheatre demonstrates how essential digital-first construction is to unlocking complex and intricate construction projects. Extensive 3D scanning and digital modelling allowed our team to customise the individual aspects of the structure - including the rolled steel subframe that supports Spotted Gum GLT skeletal web and copper shingle roof – with precision and certainty. Working in close collaboration with UQ, KIRK Studio, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers in the digital model throughout the project ensured the project team could collectively evolve the design and develop buildable solutions. With its careful selection of natural building materials and incorporation of native plants, we’re proud to have delivered a new outdoor place that completes the University’s Lake Precinct and encourages the UQ community to gather and connect with nature. We were honoured to be joined by the Premier of South Australia, The Hon. Peter Malinauskas MP, Minister for Health and Wellbeing, The Hon. Chris Picton MP and Member for Kavel, Dan Cregan to celebrate the commencement of construction on the $320.8m new Mount Barker Hospital Development. “Building on the successful delivery of the Emergency Department with Department for Infrastructure and Transport in 2023, we’re proud to be appointed construction partner to deliver this critical new health service for the region’s growing population. The commencement of works marks an exciting step forward, and we’re looking forward to the opportunity to bring this vision to life,” Henry Meaney, General Manager, Built. The first phase of works will involve site preparation, and include a range of temporary buildings, civil and services infrastructure provisions and car park alterations. Once complete, the new facility will triple inpatient capacity from 34 to 102 beds, enhancing specialist services in maternity, paediatrics, rehabilitation, mental health, surgical, and palliative care. It will also add new operating theatres, and expand chemotherapy and renal dialysis services. We recently partnered with Geelong Region Local Learning and Employment Network (GRLLEN) and Deakin University’s School of Architecture & Built Environment to successfully pilot the G8way-2-Construction program. 41 secondary students from multiple schools across the Geelong region took part in this innovative work experience program. “We’re always looking to challenge the status quo. Partnering with Deakin and GRLLEN allowed us to reinvent work experience for students, showing them the wide range of career pathways available,” said Mariska Price, Social Procurement Manager, Built.
