Yesterday, we conducted a Cleaning Awareness Program at a local government school, teaching children about the importance of hygiene and sanitation. 🧼🪣✨ These lessons go beyond classrooms, encouraging healthy habits that promote a brighter and cleaner future for all. Grateful to witness the enthusiasm of these children as they learned practical ways to take care of themselves and their surroundings. Together, we’re building a foundation for healthier communities! 💚 #CommunityDevelopment #HygieneAwareness #CleanlinessMatters #EducationForChange"

A memorable Flashback! PATS project funded by UNICEF & Plan International Proper hand washing is one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent the spread of germs and illness. Here’s why it’s a big deal in schools: Regular hand washing can reduce the likelihood of colds, flu, and other infections making their rounds in classrooms. Teaching kids to wash their hands properly sets them up with a lifelong skill that contributes to their overall health. By making hand washing a priority, we create a cleaner and safer environment for students and staff alike. Let’s make sure our kids know the five key steps to effective hand washing: 1. Wet hands with clean, running water. 2. Apply soap and lather well. 3. Scrub all parts of the hands for at least 20 seconds. 4. Rinse thoroughly under clean, running water. 5. Dry hands with a clean towel or air dry. Let’s all commit to reinforcing these habits at home and in school. A little bit of soap and water can go a long way in keeping our community healthy! #HandWashing #HealthySchools #StaySafe #SchoolHealth

Last week marked #WorldFoodDay, reminding us that we must make school meals accessible. Because hungry children learn poorly. 🍲 Healthy school meals are key to universal #EducationForAll, yet school feeding tends to be most limited where it is needed the most. We need to do more to ensure no child is left behind! Discover why school feeding is crucial for education 👉 Learn more in the #2023GEMReport: https://bit.ly/45ziIDw #ZeroHunger #GEMReport

How 30 Seconds and the WASH Curriculum Save Lives When children are born into water scarcity, basic hygiene measures like handwashing are an unaffordable luxury. Water- and sanitation-related diseases, despite being preventable, remain one of the most significant child health problems worldwide. Diarrhea is the most devastating, killing over 3,000 children each day. 88% of diarrheal disease is attributed to unsafe drinking water, inadequate sanitation, and poor hygiene. Even when waterborne disease doesn’t kill, it still costs children days of education, crucial brain and body development, and precious family funds in medical care. Building rainwater harvesting systems on primary schools is how that changes. Not only does it introduce a shift from scarcity to sufficiency, but we capitalize on the educational potential with our WASH curriculum, teaching children about Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene. #wash #water #health https://lnkd.in/gdcgqWgp

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) has specific requirements to promote good oral health. Tooth decay remains common in young children, especially in those living in deprived areas. It can be very painful, cause eating and sleeping problems, and impact attendance. Supervised toothbrushing programmes are an effective way to support good oral hygiene. The BRUSH Project has developed a toolkit to bring together new and existing resources to help support supervised toothbrushing programmes, including resources for early years settings. https://lnkd.in/eWuetSAz

I shared my thoughts on protecting-our-kids-in-a-changing-society-safe-touch-versus-unsafe-touch published on the Destin Africa, https://lnkd.in/dKwsaW-P In Today's Society, Where Values Are Rapidly Changing, It Is Increasingly Crucial To Teach Children About Personal Safety. Unfortunately, The Rise In Concerns About The Safety Of Children, Cuts Across Those They Trust Such As Family Members, Or Close Friends As Well As Strangers. This Brings About The Need To Educate Children On The Difference Between Safe Touch And Unsafe Touch, Regardless Of Who It Is. The Need To Speak Out Immediately And Not Keep It A Secret To Safe Guard The Prey. A Safe Touch Makes A Child Feel Comfortable, Safe And Cared For. They Come In The Form Of Hugs From Parents And Close Family Members, A Pat On The Back As A Sign Of Encouragement, Or Support, Holding Hands While Walking With A Trusted Guardian, Just But To Mention A Few. On The Other Hand, Unsafe Touch Makes A Child Feel Uncomfortable, Scared, Or Confused. It Is Important For A Child To Known That Their Body Is Their Own, And They Have The Right To Protect It, Regardless Of Who Is Approaching Them. Teach Them To Protect Their Private Parts, Physical Forms Of Affection Should Be Limited To Certain Individuals And Done With The Child’s Consent. Any Touch That Is Intended To Cause Harm, Or Is Done In Secrecy Should Be Stopped Immediately. Read more:

🌍💧 Today is World Handwashing Day! 💧🌍 At Compassion International, we believe that small actions can have a big impact—especially when it comes to the health and well-being of children and their communities. Handwashing with soap is one of the most effective and affordable ways to prevent diseases and save lives. Each year, millions of children are affected by preventable diseases like diarrhea and pneumonia, which can be drastically reduced through proper hand hygiene. That’s why we’re committed to educating children and families about the importance of handwashing as part of our ongoing efforts to promote health and safety in the communities we serve. By teaching these essential habits, we empower families to protect themselves from illness and build a brighter, healthier future for their children. 💧 Let’s celebrate World Handwashing Day by raising awareness and ensuring every child has the opportunity to grow up in a safe and healthy environment. Join us in making hand hygiene a priority, today and every day! #WorldHandwashingDay #HandHygieneForAll #CompassionInternational #HealthAndWellness #CleanHandsSaveLives #ChildDevelopment

Day 4: Alcohol & Safety 🍷We all enjoy a festive drink or two, but let’s keep in mind that alcohol can lower your risk awareness and inhibitions. The kitchen is already a dangerous place, so adding alcohol into the mix? That’s a recipe for disaster! Try spacing out alcoholic drinks with non-alcoholic ones, and if you’re the one cooking, try and save the tipple until the food is safely on the table. 🍷 If someone has overdone it and collapsed, check their breathing first, then roll them onto their side into the recovery position. Make sure to place pillows or cushions behind them to prevent them from rolling onto their back, which could compromise their airway. Don’t leave them alone, especially if they’re vomiting. It’s always a good idea to have someone nearby. You can find out how to do the recovery position and check for breathing on my YouTube channel, First Aid at Work Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire, along with many more helpful first aid videos. 🍷When the party’s over, make sure any leftover alcohol in glasses is cleared away, children are often the first to explore the remnants the next morning! And, of course, never drink and drive. Safety first, always! #christmas #advent #firstaid #aberdeen #aberdeenshire #firstaidawareness BNI Scotland North Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce Tullos Training Ltd Suzanne Todd

Let's spread knowledge about hand hygiene, not germs! #WorldHandHygieneDay Washing properly your hands is one of the most effective interventions for health. It stops the spread of germs and that way it saves lives, yours and many more. This is why we promote hand hygiene in our projects around the world. In #SouthSudan, for example, we are building and rehabilitating WASH facilities, including hand-washing stations, in primary schools. To promote hygiene and the importance of hand washing, we work closely with school children, teachers and parents. In school hygiene clubs, children can playfully learn how and when to wash their hands, as well as other important topics, and become hygiene ambassadors for their peers and families. This project is supported by UNICEF. #MalteserInternational #SaveLives #WashYourHands #HandHygiene #WASH
