A memorable Flashback! PATS project funded by UNICEF & Plan International Proper hand washing is one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent the spread of germs and illness. Here’s why it’s a big deal in schools: Regular hand washing can reduce the likelihood of colds, flu, and other infections making their rounds in classrooms. Teaching kids to wash their hands properly sets them up with a lifelong skill that contributes to their overall health. By making hand washing a priority, we create a cleaner and safer environment for students and staff alike. Let’s make sure our kids know the five key steps to effective hand washing: 1. Wet hands with clean, running water. 2. Apply soap and lather well. 3. Scrub all parts of the hands for at least 20 seconds. 4. Rinse thoroughly under clean, running water. 5. Dry hands with a clean towel or air dry. Let’s all commit to reinforcing these habits at home and in school. A little bit of soap and water can go a long way in keeping our community healthy! #HandWashing #HealthySchools #StaySafe #SchoolHealth

Schools toolkit advocates soap and water handwashing. Resources include posters and guidance. The “majority” of child deaths around the world – a tragic 3.5 million – are caused by pneumonia and diarrhoea. Described as “one of the most effective and least expensive ways of preventing these diseases” is a simple but effective activity that is familiar to everyone. It is of course hand washing with soap and water, according to North Yorkshire County Council’s downloadable document Handwashing in schools: a toolkit. Despite the importance of hand washing being universally acknowledged, begins the guidance document, it is “still not universally practiced”. Absenteeism in schools is made worse by such transmissible infections “much of which could be prevented by ensuring timely, effective hand washing”. All schools of course must provide appropriate hand washing facilities for staff and pupils to use on a regular basis and they should make sure that “effective handwashing is normalised”. The guidance encourages schools to liaise with parents to help ensure that the importance of hand washing becomes an accepted norm. Hand washing is equally important at school or in the home environment. A parent communication template for example suggests “Always make sure your child washes their hands in warm water with liquid soap after using the toilet, and before eating or preparing food.” #handwashing #preschool https://lnkd.in/ezDJGyEP

Happy Global Handwashing Day! Did you know that proper handwashing can reduce the spread of respiratory infections by up to 20%? Let’s talk about why handwashing is a game-changer for health: Stops Germs: Soap + water = goodbye germs! Keep yourself and others safe. Protects Everyone: Clean hands are especially important for kids and vulnerable people. Boosts Learning: Healthy students = better grades! Less sick days means more time in class. Builds Lifelong Habits: Teaching kids to wash their hands sets them up for a healthier future. CPAR's Green Schools Network (GSN) program in Malawi is making hand hygiene a priority by constructing handwashing stations in primary schools. These stations provide students with the tools they need to practice good hygiene, crucial in a region where access to clean water can be limited. By integrating lessons on safe sanitation and hygiene behaviors, we’re not just improving health but also creating a culture of cleanliness among young learners. Let's keep our hands clean and promote health for all: https://lnkd.in/eWVTAQXp #CPAR #GlobalHandwashingDay #Hygiene #Sanitation #Health #Children #Schools #CleanWater

Excited to share my recent experience educating young school-going children about the importance of personal hygiene, particularly handwashing! 💧✋ Instilling good hygiene habits early on is crucial for their health and well-being. By teaching them the significance of handwashing with soap and water, we're not only preventing the spread of diseases but also laying the foundation for lifelong health practices. Regular handwashing removes germs and bacteria that can cause illnesses, ensuring that children stay healthy and can fully engage in their academic and social activities. Plus, when kids understand the importance of hygiene, they become ambassadors for good practices at home and in their communities. Investing in children's health through hygiene education isn't just beneficial for them—it's a step towards building healthier, more resilient communities. Let's continue to empower our youth with the knowledge and skills they need to lead healthier lives! 💪 #HygieneEducation #HealthyHabits #empowerkids

The simple yet powerful act can save lives, especially among children under five, who are most vulnerable to these preventable diseases. Education plays a crucial role in this transformation. By incorporating hygiene practices into school curricula and community programs, we can instill lifelong habits that protect health. When children learn the importance of handwashing, they carry that knowledge home, creating a ripple effect that can improve the health of entire families. WASH initiatives—which focus on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene—are essential in this journey. They ensure that communities have the necessary infrastructure and resources to promote hygiene education effectively. By providing access to clean water and sanitary facilities, we empower individuals to adopt better hygiene practices. Investing in WASH initiatives and education is not just about reducing illness; it's about building a healthier future. Healthy individuals can attend school, work, and contribute to their communities, ultimately enhancing economic growth and quality of life. #IndiaSanitationCoalition #ISC #WASHSector #WASHForAll #HandwashingDay

How 30 Seconds and the WASH Curriculum Save Lives When children are born into water scarcity, basic hygiene measures like handwashing are an unaffordable luxury. Water- and sanitation-related diseases, despite being preventable, remain one of the most significant child health problems worldwide. Diarrhea is the most devastating, killing over 3,000 children each day. 88% of diarrheal disease is attributed to unsafe drinking water, inadequate sanitation, and poor hygiene. Even when waterborne disease doesn’t kill, it still costs children days of education, crucial brain and body development, and precious family funds in medical care. Building rainwater harvesting systems on primary schools is how that changes. Not only does it introduce a shift from scarcity to sufficiency, but we capitalize on the educational potential with our WASH curriculum, teaching children about Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene. #wash #water #health https://lnkd.in/gdcgqWgp

Proper handwashing is one of the simplest yet most effective defenses against common and contagious diseases. In schools germs can spread rapidly, leading to preventable illnesses. In some areas of our society, access to health education and hygiene resources is limited, making initiatives like Handwash Hygiene Awareness especially crucial. With a focus on safeguarding children's health, we recently conducted a Handwash Awareness Drive in collaboration with our partner NGO, C3 Foundation. This initiative aimed to teach essential handwashing techniques to help prevent the spread of contagious diseases. Our dedicated volunteers, alongside the NGO’s SPoCs, played a key role in educating students through engaging demonstrations and activities, showing them the proper steps for effective handwashing. In addition, our volunteers created informative posters and educational materials (IEC) to serve as visual reminders, ensuring that the hygiene lessons continue to resonate with students well after the event. These resources will help the school sustain a culture of cleanliness and health awareness. By promoting this initiative, we are not only improving the well-being of the younger generation but also contributing to healthier schools and communities. A heartfelt shout-out to our amazing volunteers, whose enthusiasm and dedication continue to make a lasting impact in all our CSR efforts.
