Let's spread knowledge about hand hygiene, not germs! #WorldHandHygieneDay Washing properly your hands is one of the most effective interventions for health. It stops the spread of germs and that way it saves lives, yours and many more. This is why we promote hand hygiene in our projects around the world. In #SouthSudan, for example, we are building and rehabilitating WASH facilities, including hand-washing stations, in primary schools. To promote hygiene and the importance of hand washing, we work closely with school children, teachers and parents. In school hygiene clubs, children can playfully learn how and when to wash their hands, as well as other important topics, and become hygiene ambassadors for their peers and families. This project is supported by UNICEF. #MalteserInternational #SaveLives #WashYourHands #HandHygiene #WASH

A memorable Flashback! PATS project funded by UNICEF & Plan International Proper hand washing is one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent the spread of germs and illness. Here’s why it’s a big deal in schools: Regular hand washing can reduce the likelihood of colds, flu, and other infections making their rounds in classrooms. Teaching kids to wash their hands properly sets them up with a lifelong skill that contributes to their overall health. By making hand washing a priority, we create a cleaner and safer environment for students and staff alike. Let’s make sure our kids know the five key steps to effective hand washing: 1. Wet hands with clean, running water. 2. Apply soap and lather well. 3. Scrub all parts of the hands for at least 20 seconds. 4. Rinse thoroughly under clean, running water. 5. Dry hands with a clean towel or air dry. Let’s all commit to reinforcing these habits at home and in school. A little bit of soap and water can go a long way in keeping our community healthy! #HandWashing #HealthySchools #StaySafe #SchoolHealth

No building, no barrier: For school children in Aweil, many of whom have to walk long distances, schooling under trees is the norm. In this rural area of the country, limited resources and lack of physical school structures requires students and teachers alike to become additionally resourceful. In #Aweil, we are working with our partners Concern Worldwide / Irish Aid on a #protection project; which not only trains adolescent girls and boys in #GBV prevention techniques, but also provides integrated GBV and case management training for health, hygiene and nutrition workers. #education

Proper handwashing is one of the simplest yet most effective defenses against common and contagious diseases. In schools germs can spread rapidly, leading to preventable illnesses. In some areas of our society, access to health education and hygiene resources is limited, making initiatives like Handwash Hygiene Awareness especially crucial. With a focus on safeguarding children's health, we recently conducted a Handwash Awareness Drive in collaboration with our partner NGO, C3 Foundation. This initiative aimed to teach essential handwashing techniques to help prevent the spread of contagious diseases. Our dedicated volunteers, alongside the NGO’s SPoCs, played a key role in educating students through engaging demonstrations and activities, showing them the proper steps for effective handwashing. In addition, our volunteers created informative posters and educational materials (IEC) to serve as visual reminders, ensuring that the hygiene lessons continue to resonate with students well after the event. These resources will help the school sustain a culture of cleanliness and health awareness. By promoting this initiative, we are not only improving the well-being of the younger generation but also contributing to healthier schools and communities. A heartfelt shout-out to our amazing volunteers, whose enthusiasm and dedication continue to make a lasting impact in all our CSR efforts. Lead exposure is a threat to our tamariki and we are not doing enough. This International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week, WasteMINZ’s residential lead working group is calling for the government to take action and prevent lead poisoning in our children. Children from NZ’s poorest communities are likely to suffer most from exposure to lead from paints in older housing, old painted furniture and cheap toys. Lead from paint contaminates soil around homes, childcare centres and schools indefinitely. We are calling for the government to protect our children by: · Taking strategic and unified action to detect and reduce children’s lead exposure · Monitoring blood lead levels in children · Providing education and prevention improvements Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/g7KqvhNh Ministry for the Environment | Manatū mō te Taiao Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children Resene Master Painters New Zealand Association Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Ministry of Education New Zealand

Studies have shown that Bordetella pertussis can survive on surfaces for about three to five days under suitable conditions. It has been shown to survive five days on clothes, two days on paper and six days on glass. The exact survival time can vary based on factors like temperature, humidity, and the type of surface. Professional cleaners can play an essential role in minimizing infection, as they have the necessary expertise to perform a regular deep clean, making sure even the hardest places to reach are germ-free. Happy Global Handwashing Day! Did you know that proper handwashing can reduce the spread of respiratory infections by up to 20%? Let’s talk about why handwashing is a game-changer for health: Stops Germs: Soap + water = goodbye germs! Keep yourself and others safe. Protects Everyone: Clean hands are especially important for kids and vulnerable people. Boosts Learning: Healthy students = better grades! Less sick days means more time in class. Builds Lifelong Habits: Teaching kids to wash their hands sets them up for a healthier future. CPAR's Green Schools Network (GSN) program in Malawi is making hand hygiene a priority by constructing handwashing stations in primary schools. These stations provide students with the tools they need to practice good hygiene, crucial in a region where access to clean water can be limited. By integrating lessons on safe sanitation and hygiene behaviors, we’re not just improving health but also creating a culture of cleanliness among young learners. Let's keep our hands clean and promote health for all: https://lnkd.in/eWVTAQXp #CPAR #GlobalHandwashingDay #Hygiene #Sanitation #Health #Children #Schools #CleanWater

Addressing the distribution of boxers to boys and sanitary pads to girls is not about fueling a gender war or an equality issue but about recognizing and addressing the distinct needs of children to protect their well-being. Boys and girls have different physiological requirements, and acknowledging this ensures that each child receives appropriate care and support. Child protection involves catering to the specific needs that arise from these differences, ensuring that all children can grow up healthy and dignified. In mentorship programs, it’s essential to provide resources that respect these differences rather than trying to equalize them in a way that overlooks their unique needs. By focusing on child protection, we prioritize the health, dignity, and development of all children, creating a more supportive and understanding environment for their growth.
Distributing boxers to boys and sanitary pads to girls addresses essential hygiene needs, supporting their dignity and health. This initiative helps prevent school absences, especially for girls during their menstrual periods. Providing these items also boosts self-esteem and comfort for all children. It is a critical component of child protection, ensuring equal access to necessary resources. Ultimately, it promotes a supportive and healthy environment for both boys and girls.
