In a city as diverse as NYC, healthcare must adapt to meet the unique needs of every community. For Asian patients, language barriers and cultural differences can make navigating care particularly challenging. That’s why, just over two years ago, we launched our Asian Services program—to ensure care is not only accessible, but also culturally informed. By building systems that optimize care coordination, fostering cultural understanding among our staff and equipping teams to provide seamless support, we’ve created an approach that goes beyond just interpretation services. With over 1,000 inpatient referrals, we’re proud to see the difference it’s making every day and are excited for what’s to come.

Nursing is more than just providing care—it’s often about being a source of strength and comfort when patients and their families need it most. Watch as five of our nurses reflect on the moments that bring them joy, from small victories to deeply personal connections with those they care for. Their stories, shared originally during our fall Joy of Nursing panel led by Chief Nursing Officer Kevin P. Browne DNP, RN, CNS, CCRN, speak to the profound impact nursing has, not just on our patients, but on our nurses themselves. #joyofnursing #storiesfromthebedside #lenoxhill #northwelllenoxhill #northwellhealth #nursing

Innovative care that gets to the heart of the matter! 👏 We're thrilled to see our electrophysiology team "turning up the heat" on atrial fibrillation using the latest advancements in ablation therapy.
We're proud to be among the first in the nation to use Medtronic Cardiac and Vascular’s new revolutionary Affera system with Sphere-9 catheter technology to treat persistent atrial fibrillation. Our first commercial case was performed today at Lenox Hill Hospital by Stavros Mountantonakis, MD, MBA, director of electrophysiology. The all-in-one catheter features dual-energy ablation using pulsed field and radiofrequency energies as well as high-density mapping functionality. The Affera Mapping and Ablation System enables our physicians to customize treatment based on a patient’s needs during an ablation procedure, using different energy sources and mapping capabilities to correct fast, abnormal heart rhythms – providing a life-changing solution for people with AFib. This marks a new era in cardiac ablation care at Northwell Health and is an exciting step forward in the treatment of atrial fibrillation – the most common atrial arrhythmia affecting more than 60 million people worldwide. After a distressing incident at work led to the discovery of a mass in her brain, WNYC Radio host Alison Stewart turned to neurosurgeon Dr. Randy D'Amico. Through an awake brain surgery using personalized brain mapping technology, Dr. D'Amico and Dr. John Boockvar carefully removed the mass, which they learned was abscess caused by an infection, all while preserving her speech and motor functions. Since then, Alison has returned to the airwaves and is steadily progressing on her path to recovery. Read more about her journey in the The New York Times: 🔗https://nyti.ms/4homoik

At 31 years old, Garanfil received news that no one is prepared for—stage 2 breast cancer. To add to her shock, she also learned she was BRCA positive, meaning there was an even higher risk of her developing breast cancer a second time. With the support and expertise of her care team, including Paul Baron, MD, and Wojciech Dec, MD, Garanfil explored every treatment option—like whether to have just the cancerous tissue removed or undergo a double mastectomy—and chose the the path that felt right to her. We’re honored to share her story of empowerment and resilience this #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth.
