Mountain Line (Missoula, MT) is well on their way towards achieving their 2035 goal of a zero-emission fixed-route fleet, powered by their investment in GILLIG Battery Electric buses. Once 10 more of GILLIG's latest generation Battery Electric buses arrive in 2025, the agency will only have 3 more buses in their fleet to replace! But replacing aging diesel buses with Battery Electric buses is not only a green choice, it's also a way to save 'green' over the bus' lifetime. Jennifer Sweten, Mountain Line Director of Operations, explained the cost benefits: "Electric buses in warm weather cost about 30 cents a mile on electricity. On a cold day that jumps up to about 45 cents a mile. They're about half as much to operate as a traditional diesel bus." GILLIG employees went above and beyond to make our GILLIG Cares Holiday "Stuff-a-Bus" Toy Drive a success. With the leadership of our Product Planning & Strategy team and the generosity of our entire GILLIG family, we helped fill a Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority bus with toys to bring joy to local families in need this holiday season. If you'd like to help stuff-a-bus and spread holiday cheer, the Wheels team is hosting their Stuff-a-Bus event tomorrow from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Walmart Shopping Center in Livermore, California. If you're not in the area, we encourage you to explore opportunities to give back in your community or consider supporting other GILLIG Cares partners, like the Alameda County Community Food Bank's holiday food drive or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Let’s continue making an impact this holiday season and continue to drive America forward. #GILLIG #GILLIGgivesback #GILLIGCares #HolidayGiving #Stuffabus #ToyDrive #FoodDrive #SeasonofGiving #GILLIGforgood

GILLIG reposted this
On the horizon for 2025: E-buses! Ben Franklin Transit has two Zero-Emission Battery Electric Buses on order, scheduled to be delivered next year. Our new E-buses will round out our collection of military appreciation vehicles, paying homage to the Coast Guard and Space Force. These buses are the culmination of many years of hard work and collaboration, and are an important step forward in connectivity and sustainable transit in the Tri-Cities.

The end of an era, indeed! C-TRAN has retired the last of its GILLIG Phantoms, with many buses finding new life through second owners and continuing to serve communities in different ways—one even as fire department mobile command unit. Federally-funded transit buses must last at least 12 years and 500,000 miles, but these buses served the Vancouver area for up to 21 years. That’s a powerful testament to the reliability and durability GILLIG builds into every bus and to the dedication and care C-TRAN’s team invested in maintaining them over the years. Over the past 15+ years, as they have phased out their Phantoms and expanded service, C-TRAN has invested in over 80 GILLIG buses to serve their community, including 10 GILLIG Battery Electric Buses now in service. As this era of GILLIG Phantoms comes to a close, we look forward to our ongoing partnership as we drive America forward, together. #GILLIGstrong #GILLIGproud #GILLIGphantom #PublicTransit #TBT #GILLIGLowFloor #driveAmericaforward #CTRAN #VancouverWA
It’s the end of an era at C-TRAN: The last Gillig Phantom buses to be used in regular service have officially been retired from the fleet. We’re sad to see them go, but they have served us well since arriving in 2003. 21 years of service is well beyond the norm for a transit vehicle. C-TRAN’s Chief Maintenance Officer Tim Shellenberger and Manager of Fleet Maintenance John Orsetti recently chatted with us about how their outstanding team kept these buses on the road for over two decades. This Veterans Day, we honor the brave men and women who have served our nation. At GILLIG, we’re proud to recognize our veteran team members whose commitment to service extends beyond their time in uniform. The leadership, integrity, and dedication they bring to our organization inspire us every day. As a small token of our gratitude, we proudly display a Veteran Wall of Honor at our headquarters, commemorating our team members who have served. This tribute serves as a daily reminder of their sacrifices and the values they uphold, which strengthen our GILLIG family and the communities we serve. To our GILLIG veterans and all those who have served, thank you. #AmericanBuilt #VeteranBuilt #VeteransDay #GILLIG

It was a privilege to welcome the King County Metro Transit team to GILLIG’s manufacturing facility in Livermore, CA this week, as they visited to see their first two 40' GILLIG Battery Electric Buses. This visit was more than just a preview of new vehicles—it was a celebration of nearly three decades of partnership built on progress and innovation. These pilot buses will enter their thorough acceptance process this December, leading into the production of 87 additional buses starting in summer 2025. These pilot buses mark a significant step forward as we work to support King County Metro’s admirable goal of becoming the first large transit agency to have a fully zero-emissions fleet. A big thank you to the KCM team for your trust and for joining us on this journey toward a more sustainable future.
