What exactly are zero-emission zones?🚫💨 Zero-emission zones are designated small areas of about 1.5 square miles to 11 square miles inside large cities where only zero-emission vehicles, pedestrians and bikes are granted unrestricted access, with gas and diesel vehicles either prohibited or forced to pay an access fee. 📋A new WRI report shows only about a dozen cities around the world have officially implemented or announced formal proposals to pilot Zero-emission zones: https://bit.ly/3UlIW8P

The Switchblade roadable aircraft, developed by Samson Sky, is a significant development in this evolution. This was made possible by the recently passed transportation bill in Minnesota, which has now been signed into law. This innovative legislation defines flying cars as aircraft that can be driven to and from airports or private airstrips. 🛫🚘 New Hampshire set this precedent in 2020, making Minnesota the second state to accept this revolutionary transportation form. A bit of a plug for two things I care about, since these worlds are colliding this September. If you haven't been, Jeff Allen and Forth team put on one of the best EV conferences in Roadmap. As someone who has participated in lots of conferences, including presenting at Roadmap multiple times, I know the team pushes for active conversations on key, emerging topics--not just talking heads. You will undoubtedly learn something and hear perspectives that spur innovative thinking--I seemingly always get a little inspired coming out of Roadmap. But, what makes it even more special is the setting--the City of Detroit. If you are looking for a roll-your-sleeves-up perspective, making it work with limited resources, and actively thinking outside the box...not to mention a great town for foodies, music, etc in usually the best Michigan weather of the year. Bottom line, Roadmap and Detroit are made for each other...with passionate, thoughtful people looking to solve problems. And yeah, admittedly, I am 100% biased. Check it out!

It’s time we talk about speed limits! As the government looks at the issue of speed limits on our roads we need to have a mature debate about the issue. Obviously, speed is an important factor, but there are others, including bad driving habits, drivers not driving to the conditions and the quality of our roads generally. We need to ask whether reducing speed limits is the silver bullet many think it is. Having driven around the south of France recently and without incident I can assure you the answer is no. Here is a photo of the A61 - the speed limit is 130 km on a pretty average two lane highway no different to many of ours.
