Great news for clean transportation: U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced $18.6 million in funding for 15 projects that are working to make clean transportation options more available, accessible, and affordable nationwide. This funding through DOE’s Vehicle Technologies Office aligns with strategies of the National Blueprint for Transportation Decarbonization to "address energy justice, fuel the economy, create good paying jobs, and expand access to cutting-edge technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create healthier communities." The Tennessee Valley Authority released a draft of its 2025 Integrated Resource Plan & Environmental Impact Report! 🚘 With Tennessee rising as a national EV manufacturing leader, around 200,000 EVs may be on the road by 2028. The Brookville Smart Energy Bus Depot opened two years ago. Since then it’s been home to a growing fleet of electric transit buses and the country’s largest transit microgrid. It’s also been toured by policymakers and transit leaders from around the country who want to see the future of decarbonized transit. This week, we hosted the Legislative Energy Horizon Institute, a group of up-and-coming state and local legislators, advisors, and policymakers. We discussed how the project got done and how to do more like it in the future.

We need to start viewing homes as systems, with inputs and outputs, to make grid independence pencil.
