Twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) is a condition that can happen to identical twins who share a placenta. During pregnancy, here are some signs doctors find in an ultrasound that can indicate TTTS: 🔷 Different amounts of amniotic fluid: One twin has too much fluid (more than 8 cm) and the other has too little (less than 2 cm). 🔷 The twin with too much fluid may develop heart problems with decreased function 🔷 Abnormal Doppler waveforms in the umbilical artery and or vein 🔷 Different growth rates: discordance between the size of the twins may occur in TTTS or be due to associated fetal growth restriction which can complicate up to 65% of cases of TTTS If you know someone who is worried about their pregnancy and needs a second opinion, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team of fetal care experts. https://lnkd.in/diNkvYg3 #ConnecticutChildrens #FetalCare #TTTSAwareness #TwinTwinTransfusionSyndrome #TwinsPregnancy
