The Power of Possible
About us
UConn Health is a vibrant, integrated academic medical center that is entering an era of unprecedented growth in all three areas of its mission: academics, research, and clinical care. UConn Health is at the center of Bioscience Connecticut, a bold plan introduced by Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy and approved by the Connecticut General Assembly in 2011. The plan will strengthen Connecticut’s position as a national and global leader for bioscience innovation and improve access to quality health care for Connecticut citizens for generations to come. Based in Farmington, Connecticut – a popular suburb of the state’s capitol of Hartford – UConn Health is home to the School of Medicine, School of Dental Medicine, John Dempsey Hospital, UConn Medical Group, UConn Health Partners, University Dentists and a thriving research enterprise. With approximately 5,000 employees, UConn Health is a major economic driver in the region, generating nearly $1 billion annually in gross state product. It is closely linked with the University of Connecticut’s main campus in Storrs through multiple, cross-campus academic projects.

Less than 6% of U.S. physicians identify as Black or African American. It’s one reason why UConn Health’s Dr. Cato T. Laurencin has relaunched the Imhotep Connecticut National Medical Association (CT NMA) Society, with the goal of creating a welcoming environment for Black physicians, fellows, students, and residents.

Students, faculty, staff, and community members came together to contribute essential items that will directly enable individuals and families to rebuild their lives with dignity and security.

Leonard Murphy is headed to the Navy for residency training in pediatrics at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego while Kathryn Fama matched into the pediatric residency training program at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA. Both were inspired by their own experience with the military.

Health care is an enormously demanding field. Finding a work-life balance with the ability to pursue outside interests is just as important as finding a community that supports you. The newly established Orchestra of UConn Health (or "OUCH!") has provided some of our musically-inclined staff with a sense of belonging, and our larger community with some beautiful music. 🔗 https://bit.ly/4a1r8XY
