Today, experts and advocates gathered at the ‘Trouble in Toyland’ press conference to highlight toy safety, offering guidance to caregivers on choosing safe gifts this holiday season. 🧸🎁 Jim Shmerling, CEO of Connecticut Children's, emphasized that protecting children’s safety is a core commitment at Connecticut Children’s, which extends to raising awareness about the dangers of unsafe toys. U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal highlighted the urgent need for stronger regulations to prevent dangerous, unregulated toys from reaching the market. Kevin Borrup (he/him), Executive Director of the Injury Prevention Center and Dr. John Brancato, Division Head of Emergency Medicine, also discussed the risks of choking hazards, magnets, and water beads.
