Construction Begins on Iron Horse Labs at 309 East 94th Street on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Work is taking shape at 309 East 94th Street, the future site of an eight-story 200,000-square foot life sciences facility on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Perkins + Will and developed by Elevate Research Properties, the life sciences subsidiary of Taconic PartnersNuveen Real Estate and Flatiron Equities, the building is going to be expanded, recladded, and fully renovated. The project will be called the Iron Horse Labs, named after New York Yankees legend Lou “Iron Horse” Gehrig who was born at the same address. 309 East 94th Street Property Owner LLC is listed as the owner and JRM Construction Management is the general contractor for the property, which is situated on a large interior lot between First and Second Avenues.

Construction is steadily moving along on the Stephen and Christine Schwarzman Animal Medical Center, a ten-story veterinary hospital at 510 East 62nd Street in the Lenox Hill section of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Perkins + Will, the $100 million non-profit project will add 11,000 square feet to the existing 26,000-square-foot, 63-year-old structure. Turner Construction Company is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by the East 62nd Street to the north, East 61st Street to the south, FDR Drive to the east, and York Avenue to the west.

Construction and renovations are progressing on The Wellington, a historic six-story, 25,000-square-foot building at 1290 Madison Avenue in the Carnegie Hill section of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Page Ayres Cowley Architecture, LLC for 1290 Madison LLC, the project involves the conversion of the interiors to yield ten condominium units spanning 21,600 square feet, the construction of a one-story addition above the parapet, the restoration of the Renaissance Revival façade, and modernization of the 3,600 square feet of ground-floor retail space. First Standard Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of Madison Avenue and East 92nd Street.
