Landmarks Says No To Proposed Additions to 890 Park Avenue, Upper East Side

New 15-Story Columbia Medical College Building Nears Completion At 104 Haven Avenue, Washington Heights

Last September, glass installation was well underway at Columbia University’s 15-story, 107,299 square-foot Medical College Graduate & Education Building at 104 Haven Avenue, in Washington Heights. The 196-foot-tall structure is now fully clad, seen in recent photos by Tectonic. When the building opens later this year, it will contain mostly academic classrooms and facilities, but will also feature an auditorium, a café, and lounge/study space. Diller Scofidio + Renfro designed the building, which is attempting to achieve LEED Gold certification, according to Curbed. Gensler Architects served as the architect of record.

17-Story, 733,500 Square-Foot New York-Presbyterian Hospital Expansion Rises At 445 East 68th Street, Upper East Side

In the beginning of 2014, YIMBY brought you news of the imminent demolition of the 12-story residential buildings at 445 East 68th Street (a.k.a. 1283-1299 York Avenue), on the Upper East Side, to make-way for New York-Presbyterian Hospital’s expansion. The initial filings for the new building have since been amended and detail a 17-story, 733,500 square-foot building, 551,691 square feet of which will be considered active medical space. Thanks to photos by Tectonic, we can see the structure is now 11 stories above the street level and rising. Dubbed the David H. Koch Center, HOK (Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum) is behind the design of the building. Completion is expected in 2017 or 2018.

Six-Story, 20-Unit Residential Building Planned At 3 West 128th Street, Harlem

Since April of 2015, Brooklyn-based Blue Stone Capital has been filing applications for a six-story, 20-unit residential building at 3 West 128th Street, in Harlem. The project will encompass 15,896 square feet, and 13,163 square feet will be used as residential space. Units will begin on the ground floor and will average 658 square feet apiece, indicative of rentals. The structure will be topped by a 433.5 square-foot rooftop recreational space. Boaz Golani’s Bronx-based BMG Design Build is the architect of record. The 35-foot-wide vacant lot traded hands for $2 million this past October.

Seven-Story, 15,000-Square-Foot Medical Office Building Planned At 63 Audubon Avenue, Washington Heights

Seewell Realty, based in Scarsdale, N.Y., has filed applications for a seven-story, 15,624 square-foot medical office building at 63 Audubon Avenue, between West 168th and 169th streets in Washington Heights. The offices, in the form of community facility space, will total 11,854 square feet in the building. It’s not known how many separate medical groups are expected to operate in the new structure, although the cellar level through the seventh floor will contain offices. Alexander Zhitnik, head of Chinatown-based Z Architecture, is designing the building. Demolition permits were filed back in 2014 to raze the existing three-story, two-unit wood-frame townhouse.
