There has been a net increase in the number of bodyshops (core insurance network bodyshops) to 2,743, according to the latest Trend Tracker Report, but with 6,450 jobs per working day in October is this just over two jobs per repairer per day, is this sustainable? "Repairers may need to look wider to fleet and retail work provision if not doing so already," said author of the Report, Paul Sell. From the Report - available in full to Subscribers, here: https://lnkd.in/dakE9JK 15 years ago, there were an estimated 3,840 primary repairers and, over the last decade (2014 to 2024), the number of primary car bodyshops has declined by an estimated further 17%. So many headlines about electric vehicle mandates, sales targets and production figures of late. In the new Trend Tracker Report, Data and Insight Partner, Consumer Intelligence, asked consumers about their intention to buy an electric vehicle and, well, this word cloud is pretty clear and shows there is some way to go to convince consumers - beyond early adopters - to switch to EVs. Brilliant data which we delve into for the latest Trend Tracker report - thank you, Jade Edwards, always really interesting insight from Zapmap!
We've released the Key Findings from the latest Zapmap annual EV driver survey this morning. 🔌 Charging on the public network remains essential - While 79% of respondents have a dedicated home charger, 51% of EV drivers use the public network at least once per month 🛣️ Motorway services remain the most popular charging locations, with 58% of respondents regularly visiting them 🚀 Popularity of charging hubs continues to increase - 53% of those using the public network now regularly visit charging hubs (up from 47% last year) 🫶 EV driver satisfaction remains high, with drivers scoring on average 87/100 average satisfaction with their EV - Fewer than 3% of EV drivers would switch back to internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. 😐 The average rating for public charge experience satisfaction was 64/100 suggesting that there is still room for improvement. 📈 However, 61% of respondents said public charging infrastructure had improved over the past year, so there's no doubt things are heading in the right direction. Interesting news on BIG players in the motor insurance market! Recent Association of British Insurers figures show in the last 12 months, in total, insurers paid out £2.9 billion in motor insurance claims – up 18% on £2.5 billion paid in Q2 2023... AND repair costs were 28% higher, totalling £1.9 billion (Trend Tracker UK Motor Claims and Body Repair Report 2024-2025: https://lnkd.in/e-_NGQUC). In the Report we also look at EY data that shows for every £1 collected in premiums, the industry paid out £1.13 in claims and expenses... so are big insurance deals on the horizon as insurers grapple with margins in motor?
