What an exciting week we've had at the Air Cargo Forum by The International Air Cargo Association TIACA in Miami, USA! We proudly unveiled our refreshed visual identity, connected with industry partners, and shared valuable insights shaping the future of Air Cargo.
Thank you to Changi Airport Group Airport for inviting us to be a co-exhibitor under the Changi Air Cargo Hub pavilion, where we showcased our collaborative efforts and innovations.
SATS’ Kuah Boon Kiam, SVP, Cargo Services, SATS, joined Changi Air Hub & Cargo Development on stage to discuss the launch of the truck dock slot booking application. This application allows freight forwarders and trucking companies to book time slots to pick up air cargo more seamlessly, reducing waiting times and increasing visibility on landside activities for cargo handlers.
Boon Kiam also marked another milestone by accepting the Corporate Sustainability Award on behalf of Asia Airfreight Terminal Co. Ltd. (AAT), a subsidiary of SATS Ltd., in recognition of their pioneering work with autonomous electric tractors. This award highlights our commitment to advancing sustainable practices within the logistics and air cargo sectors.
Thank you to everyone who made the week’s event a success, from our dedicated team to our valued partners and peers. Together, we are moving the industry forward, one innovation at a time. Here’s to continued progress and collaboration!
For 80 consecutive days, from dawn to dusk, a SATS team of 16 chefs and 9 catering assistants worked tirelessly in the Australian outback to prepare up to 2,000 meals daily for the soldiers at Camp Tilpal in Shoalwater Bay Training Area, Rockhampton. These chefs are dedicated to a meaningful mission.
Senior Minister of State for Defence, SMS Mr Heng Chee How, attended the Shoalwater Bay Training Area Commemorative Ceremony at Camp Tilpal on 13 November 2024. SATS’ catering operation at Camp Tilpal highlights the company’s ability to provide food solutions in foreign environments.
"This is not your typical kitchen deployment. In this kitchen, the chefs handle forks and forklifts," quips Simon Lim, SATS Senior Manager of Operations at Camp Tilpal. “We also receive rigorous training on driving a forklift so that we can double up as drivers for the vehicle. Performing dual role alleviates the pressure on manpower.”
The lean team of 25 endures long hours and unique conditions to serve nutritious, authentic meals that offer a comforting taste of home for the soldiers in the field. Bee Bee, a Junior Sous Chef, shared, “Running a kitchen operation in the outback, far away from home, means we are not just preparing meals; we are nurturing spirits and building morale. I treat the soldiers like family and want them to eat well. It fills me with joy when the soldiers tell me they are happy to find nasi lemak here that tastes just like the ones back home.”
Simon proudly displays the “coins,” which are tokens of appreciation that he and his team of chefs have received. He added, “It’s a two-way process of mutually uplifting each other. While we lift the morale and spirit of the soldiers with our food, they elevate our joy of serving with their appreciation.”
