Connecticut Children’s has received a remarkable $3.5 million gift from long-time donors Debra and Louis Chênevert and their daughters, Sophie Chênevert-Schilke and Lisa Chênevert-Krause. This transformational gift will support cutting-edge cellular and gene therapy treatment and research in our new eight-story clinical tower, scheduled to be completed in late 2025. Mia was diagnosed with a brain tumor at just 6 years old. She bravely powered through surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Now, at 8 years old and in third grade, Mia loves art—especially painting and ceramics. She continues to receive care from multiple specialties at Connecticut Children's, including neuro-oncology, endocrinology, urology, nephrology, neuropsychology, ophthalmology, and physical therapy. Today, Isaac is a sophomore studying finance at Messiah University. But in June 2016, he was an 11-year-old facing the toughest challenge of his life: a diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). After three rounds of chemo at Connecticut Children's, Isaac traveled to Boston for a life-saving bone marrow transplant. Soon, kids like Isaac will be able to get life-saving treatments close to home in Connecticut Children's new Advanced Cellular & Gene Therapy Unit.
