The public markets have mounted a remarkable rebound, skyrocketing nearly 40% compared to late 2020 levels - a resounding vote of investor confidence. Yet the private markets realm tells a more nuanced story, with late-stage valuations still trailing 4% behind, unable to rally above the ZIRP-driven heights… 👉 For more insights, dive into our Q2 newsletter: https://lnkd.in/gaGKKqQk 📫 If you’re not a subscriber yet, sign up here: http://eepurl.com/iaoksz

As founders, we’re used to solving problems ourselves, putting in the time, and pushing for growth. It’s how we got here—past product-market fit, even into profitability. But scaling demands a different mindset—moving from exchanging time for growth to exchanging money for growth. This shift is far from easy and feels uncomfortable. But if you want to scale, this is the critical bridge to cross. Many founders get stuck here, not because they fear losing control, but because the shift from spending time to spending money feels like a big leap. But this is where real growth happens. Todd started his career in complex sales, experienced rapid growth at Heap and Square and now he’s a first time founder at Champify. Rich convo, eloquent guest, time flew for me 🌊 Here's a highlight from an epic episode: 👉 THE HARDEST LESSONS YOU LEARNED ABOUT STARTUP SALES 1- "The biggest mistake I made was not investing in ops and enablement early": We started to scale, and we thought, okay, we'll just get smart reps, and we'll figure this out. You need systems. You might think that what you're selling is so unique that we can't have a discovery checklist or we can't have guidelines for deals. But it's not true. Every company can benefit from them." 2- "If I'd go back in time, I'd spend even more time understanding the customer even better" During the first year we focused on rapid growth at all costs. Silicon Valley :) But now I realized, If we had spent more time with early customers... ... really understanding what they were doing, getting more feedback, really I think it would have sped us up a lot." 👉 Check out the rest of the episode for growth from 6 to 80 employees in 6 months, what makes a great sales rep, and other lessons learnt! He’s very well-versed and eloquent with his ideas so this short episode will flow 🌊 like a flowla 😉 And I genuinely believe he's one of those people raising the profile of the sales job. 🙏 You can check out the episode on spotify and youtube and If you like the episode may I please ask you to share a comment or leave us a rating?
