This time last week, businesses representing over 2.5million people were taking part in #techtimeouttuesday, the UK's largest digital wellbeing initiative ⛔️ 📱 All across the UK (and even overseas!) businesses pledged time away from their tech and allowed their employees minutes, hours, or even a day to embrace activities away from their tech. Some businesses went for a walk, some enjoyed a buffet lunch, and others did charity work. Businesses got creative with how they spent their #techtimeout, and it was amazing to have nearly a million more people than last year take part in our initiative! #techtimeout #ScreenTime #DigitalDetox #MentalWellbeing #TechDetox

For sign-up or to initiate a program, consult your HR or Payroll team. We're here to help if your organization needs assistance setting up a program. You have options to establish Workplace Giving for your organization: utilise a third-party platform or make direct bank transfers to FSHD Global Research Foundation. 📣 Two months ago, we revamped our “News Feed” and gathered all our communication modules (news, ads, forums, polls) in a single place. With its granular approach, it allows HR, community, office, facility or hospitality managers to communicate at scale with the right employees or building users, to truly bring places alive (and people together) 🤗 📹 Today we want to demonstrate how easy - yet powerful - our module is! In the video example below, Jane from Acme Corp will publish a poll towards specific communities within the company, to ask what the next charity should be about 🎯 💯 There are obviously numerous other possibilities, from publishing a single news to all building tenants, to creating an event for selected people within a department … stay tuned 🚀 #NewsFeed #ProductUpdate #Innovation

Did you know that today, the 13th June is Social Mobility Awareness Day? 🌟 As surprising as it may be, it has only been celebrated since 2022, when Making The Leap, an amazing social mobility charity started the initiative to help raise awareness on this salient issue, encouraging companies to share their social mobility stories. Being on the Fellow’s Board for MTL has meant that I have both gotten to experience, and witness the amazing impact the charity has had on so many lives. From the moment you join through the ACE program, MTL becomes your second family - your wins are their wins … your success is their success. I had the pleasure of attending a Social Mobility Day event organised by MTL to celebrate the work being done by the charity, and expose how much more improvement can still be achieved; ensuring access to opportunity isn’t the limiting factor to both professional and/or personal success is therefore key! 💪 The evening was both inspiring and insightful. Nothing compares to being surrounded by individuals who care as much as you do about such an amazing cause. Some key takeaways included: 🔹The importance of resilience, hard work, and the power of networking 🔹The amazing initiatives being carried out by Howard Kennedy LLP such as making what used to be free company coffee an easy way to donate 50p to the cause 😊 🔹2 simple but effective things that Tunde Banjoko OBE, the founder and CEO of MTL, that we could all apply in our own lives: 1. Be the employer you would like to have. This advice can honestly be applied to any type of relationship you have. Be the type of person you would like to have in your life. 2. Make sure you can look at yourself in the mirror and know that every turn you did your best and left nothing on the table. So are you celebrating Social Mobility Day? If so use #ShareMoments to both share what you’re doing during the day or/and your own social mobility story 🥰 #ShareMoments #SocialMobilityDay #EmpowerChange #ShareYourStory

Some fun facts about Storybox in case you didn't know! 💚 - SB was started during the COVID pandemic as a platform to support and promote local businesses that go that little bit further to protect people and planet. - It was founded by me, Rachel, after I couldn't get the idea out of my head in winter 2020. Big shout out to Adrian Burns for enduring it whilst I started the business from lockdown! 🤣 - Reached out to Social Enterprise Northern Ireland and received council support from Work West Enterprise Agency. They were such an amazing help; next thing I knew, I was packing up 150 boxes from the living room for our first corporate client. - I started with just 8 products and two gift boxes (most of which are currently still part of the range!) - Operated from three different home addresses for over nearly two years before finding our home in Portview Trade Centre. It was a tight squeeze before getting my studio. Thanks again to Adrian for never batting an eye lid at me turning our home into a warehouse. - Sent our first major international order to the USA within the first year. Massive learning curve with DHL on speed dial! 🤣 - Proudly donated over £2000 to local mental health charities (so far). Outside of raising awareness of local/social businesses, this is always something I want to do - give back. - Running a business has its challenges: uncertainty, resilience, occasional loneliness and imposter syndrome. But surrounding yourself with supportive friends and contacts helps overcome them. A cuppa and a chat goes such a long way. ☕ - I am so incredibly grateful to have amazing friends and family who help and champion my small business. I've had to ask for help quite a bit! - An additional service offering is in the making. Something that will help local businesses in another way. 👀 - Finally, all the products we stock make a positive impact, support social causes, are eco-friendly, or champion creatives. And that's the ethos that will remain true as I move forward with the business. ✨ If this story and ethos resonates with you - find out more about our products at www.storyboxni.com #Story #GiftsWithPurpose #ChampionSmallBusiness

Need anymore reasons to attend ProcureCon Travel next year? Check out a firsthand review from one of our attendees this year and discover why ProcureCon Travel is the premier event for travel sourcing professionals. #ProcureConTravel
The feedback I am hearing the most from attendees of the Worldwide Business Research (WBR) #ProcureConTravel event is that they like the intimacy of the event and that it is easy for everyone to connect. I believe very few will argue against the idea that #corporatetravel is a relationship industry. There are of course esteemed speakers, extremely valuable learning opportunities, and even a social charity component around various pressing industry topics. That being said, none of those deliverables exist without the human interaction. I just LOVE this industry! If you buy travel for your company, I highly encourage you to attend ProcureCon Travel next year! Please feel free to reach out to me if you’d like to pick my brain on the content offered and the companies represented! #ProcureConTravel2024

Engagement. everybody wants it, few people have it. What’s confusing is that it almost doesn’t make a difference until you get to “deep engagement.” This is why so many nonprofits (and businesses) give up. “We tried it and it didn’t work,” they say. What I’ve found is that extraordinary results happen when you get to “deep engagement.” Deep engagement is: - Purposeful. Not just engagement for engagement’s sake, but for a reason. - Participatory. Nobody wants to be lectured at. - Recurring. It happens on a frequency. You get used to it and miss it when it doesn’t happen. - Identifies leaders. You can’t do it all alone, so you bring others along the way to amplify your message. What does deep engagement look like in your database? Multiple contacts across multiple channels in the last few months. At least one or two/month have been participatory, and every interaction was related to the mission (i.e., calling the box office for tickets every week doesn’t count.) If that person is in your database and is not giving, please have someone talk to them right now. They will look like fundraising geniuses :-). This model works very well for fundraising because there is no upper limit to how much someone can donate. For other industries, maybe not so much (there are just so many groceries one can buy, no matter how well the supermarket engages its customers).

Im quite sure the theme of flexible working comes up multiple times a week (if not a day!) for most in HR. Whether it’s formal flexibility requests, through recruiting and onboarding, to help retain top talent or simply helping with employees various needs. What are your opinions around giving people flexible working arrangements and the optics associated with it? Do you find senior business leaders resistant to it and why? Or have they embraced it and seen the positive impacts it can bring? Interested to hear your thoughts 😄
Businesses aren't charities. I get that. Is it charity to give flexibility to employees? Quite a few execs seem to think so. I don't. I think it's good business. Why? Let me put it this way, do your employees still handwrite documents, or did your company adapt to new ways of working and give them computers?** When there's SO much evidence that people are more productive, loyal, and creative when working flexibly, why do some resist adapting to these new ways of working? ...I'll hazard one guess.. because they can't see them.. and they like control 👀 Well, what if you could have both? Because, to be honest, a lot of execs are control freaks. I'm one myself. I don't need to see everything all the time, but if I set some parameters it helps me chill out a bit. It's actually better for my staff too, because they know they can operate freely within the limitations the company has set. It's even better for business when you do it properly. Not with some wishy-washy policy. What's 'properly' then? 📊 Measurable 👓 Demonstrable 🏛 Structured 👐 Consistent and... tech enabled 🤖 #Blinktime Blinktime #futureofwork #flexibleworking #rto #hybrid #wfh #flexitime #operatingmodel #hrtech #hr #peopleops ** I know some companies still list "IT equipment" as a benefit on their JDs... so maybe they think giving you more than pen and paper is charity too...
