It is a calendar plug-in for coordinating where and when people are working which sits directly within Microsoft, Google and Slack, working seamlessly within employees’ day-to-day tools. The ‘where’ helps people see who’s going into the office so they can plan their attendance to coordinate with colleagues and desk space. The ‘when’ gives people guilt-free, pre-sanctioned flexitime within parameters set by the business. There’s data for the company on all of it, which is not readily available on other platforms, and is an industry first as a holistic ‘flexible work’ tool. The tool itself provides employees with informal flexibility, pre-sanctioned by the company, which is invaluable in empowering staff to take breaks without feeling guilty. Bonus: it also provides a bunch of useful data that can be used in benefit design and business case preparation. Therefore proving a win-win with both employees and employers.

Last week we had the pleasure of talking to Ryan Tanna of Blinktime to find out more about its hybrid working tool and their mission to allow companies to offer flexible working without the inefficiencies and ambiguities that currently exist. We were joined by experts in the field Sinead Daly and Miriam Pfister, Ph.D. who are helping Ryan hone his narrative and give him critical insights from the point of view of potential customers. There was unanimous agreement in the room that companies will massively benefit from Blinktime’s powerful tool which optimises office space, eliminates wasted commutes, and provides guilt-free, documented flexitime, with brand new, useful insights to people teams. The conversation was really informative and brought to light many interesting opportunities, from potential partnerships, to how to leverage (and enhance) scientific research. What a week. Starting off with two days at Manchester Tech Festival for their #Leadership and #EDI days, followed by two days at the CIPD Manchester ACE. The Blinktime team have been very busy! Lots of great conversations and feedback 🙌🏼 Thanks to everyone who let us interview them at the CIPD festival. There was a strong theme that HR are dealing with significant burnout/stress levels, and have big concerns over the next 12+ months when it comes to changes in the budget and employment law legislation.
