🎄 Simplify Christmas: Start with a Plan A few years ago, I remember rushing around the week before Christmas. I hadn’t planned properly, and the stress hit me like a freight train. There were presents I still needed to buy, food to prepare, and the house was a mess. By the time Christmas Day arrived, I felt exhausted instead of excited. That year taught me an important lesson: Christmas shouldn’t feel like a marathon. So, now, every year in early December, I sit down on a Sunday with a cup of tea, a notebook, and a pen. I write down everything that needs to happen before Christmas: 🎁 Presents to buy (and for whom!) 🥧 Food to bake or prepare 🗓️ People to see or visit 🧹 Cleaning and decorating tasks Once it’s all on paper, I create a timetable and spread the tasks out over the next two weeks. This simple process has transformed the holidays for me. By tackling a little bit each day, I can avoid last-minute panic and actually enjoy the festive season. ✨ The lesson I’ve learned is this: Planning ahead removes stress and helps you focus on the joy of the season. You’ll feel calmer, more in control, and better able to enjoy the moments that matter. So, why not start today? Take 15 minutes to write your list, and you’ll thank yourself later! 🎅 What’s the first thing on your list? Share it in the comments! 🎄❤️ #ChristmasPlanning #SelfCareSunday #HolidayHappiness

We have 32 days till Christmas! What does that mean to you? Are you getting excited and prepared? Sending letters to Santa, sorting decorations, scheduling time out of a busy schedule to attend Christmas events or arranging catch-ups with friends. Or maybe you are getting the feeling of overwhelm? As there are so many things that need to be done before Christmas or before the end of the calendar year. I must admit I can sometimes sit in the latter state and whenever that happens I ask myself: 🎄What is the most important thing about Christmas? (time with family) 🎄What can I drop and still have a great time during Christmas? (I don't need to check if all house surfaces are spotless or make tons of homemade food) . 🎄Who can help me? (my husband and kids). 🎄What do I need to be my best version during Christmas? (a little bit time for myself and a piece of cheesecake😉). How are you feeling as we approach the festive season? #Overwhelm #Christmas #WorkLifeBalance #Priorities #FestiveSpirit

Is this you? Running around like a headless chicken (or muddy dog!) trying to get everything done before you finish up for Christmas? Let’s face it, we are all blooming busy without the addition of Christmas. We have overflowing ‘to do’ lists, trying to cram in work, life, home, kids, fun and some much needed sleep. Then come December, every year without fail, we ramp it up! Not just once notch, but about 20 or 30! We are desperately trying to complete that overflowing ‘to do’ list in record time. We have now added to it, with all the present buying, menu planning, house decorating etc, etc. And on top of that, there’s all those extra social engagements we have to go to. Whereas all we really want to do is curl up on the sofa, or have an early night, because we’re already exhausted! It’s okay to slow down for Christmas, not speed up. It’s okay to do Christmas your way. We put so much pressure on ourselves to make each year perfect, better than the last, when we all know, there’s no such thing as perfect. I’m one of the lucky ones. No one is putting pressure on me to do Christmas their way. What’s one thing you can do to ease the pressure of Christmas for you this year? Video of Nell being Nell! Having fun and doing the build up to Christmas her way! #christmas #toomuch #slowdown #busy #pressure

Christmas, Chaos, and Clarity – Redefining the Festive Season Post 1: The Christmas Compass – Finding Your True North Christmas often feels like being caught in a blizzard of expectations. Should you say yes to every invitation? Buy the latest must-have toys? Be the “perfect” host? The truth is, you can’t steer through the season without knowing your true north—what matters most to you. The festive season has a way of pulling us into other people’s priorities. It might be the in-laws insisting on traditions that don’t feel meaningful to you or the pressure to keep up with picture-perfect social media posts. Over time, we lose sight of what makes Christmas ours. Think of your values as a compass. They guide decisions that align with who you are. Is connection more important than gifts? Is simplicity what you crave? When you use these as your guide, you’re less likely to feel overwhelmed by others’ expectations. Coaching Activity: Define Your Festive Values Write down three things that make Christmas meaningful for you. Is it quality time with family? Acts of kindness? A sense of calm? Use these values to filter your decisions—say yes to what aligns, and gracefully decline the rest. #values #christmas #priorities #coaching

I've got my sparkly jumper on today to see Clients, as we're now in the festive season and glitter seems to be all around. (For those that know me I do love a sequin, sparkle and glitter!)✨ Plus it is "Christmas Jumper Day!" However, there are many of us feeling anxious and stressed about the next few weeks. So, I have been asking my Clients these questions to help calm their mind and focus their thoughts: 1. Take a few minutes just to think about what you want your Christmas Day to look like. 2. Think about how you want the day to feel, and more importantly, how YOU want to feel. 3. Ask yourself what you simply MUST have on the day otherwise it will be ruined forever? (Dramatic I know, but you'll see the reason in a bit!) 4. What are the jobs you need to do in order to achieve the above? 5. What are the days & times you can get the tasks done? 6. Ask for help! Who in the family can help you with the chores and Christmas preparations? 7. Ask yourself if something doesn't get done, what will ACTUALLY happen? 8. For example, what will actually happen if the ironing isn't done, or that particular part of the meal or decoration isn't on the table? By taking some time to think about what you REALLY want, what you can ACTUALLY achieve in time and what will HAPPEN if somethings aren't done or bought, will help you realise what is really important and that the world won't fall apart if everything isn't 100%. When my clients take the time to think and focus, they decide on what they will and won't do and feel much more relaxed about the weeks ahead. Let me know how you prioritise your Christmas to-do list...

It’s Christmas season, and the household decided that my “secret recipe” Christmas cake had matured long enough… so, we sliced it, air fried it, sugared it (etc) and ate it! How long had it matured, I virtually hear you asking? Much longer than you think. So, Christmas quiz time: What’s your guess? And, yes, it was delicious - if, probably, very difficult to ever repeat. But, such is the way with all things: they are transient. We preserve and sustain and scrimp and save but, despite many an archaic belief, you can’t take it with you. Hence, we ate a cake that will never likely be replicated. And? We enjoyed it! Save and be ready for emergencies. But don’t not do what you want to do for fear of tomorrow. Rather fear no tomorrows and be alive today. Yeah, yeah. I turned Christmas cake into a podium for morosely moralistic philosophising! Somewhat expected as year end approaches and we each begin our fervent annual navel gazing, our perennial period of reflexive introspection and retrospective analysis… “What did I do wrong last year?” “What can I do to make next year better?” “What is ‘better’?” Deep Thought sought the dolphins and the mice for such profundities…and that poor whale spent its short, sudden, plummeting existence futilely pondering much the same… 🐳 My advice? Spend less time on such subjective enquiry and simply enjoy the holidays… and some Christmas cake, if you can get it!

I’m just going to whisper this … It’s only 6 months until Christmas. I know that you don’t want to hear that in the U.K., especially when we feel like we are only just experiencing real summer! Make the most of the ‘balmy’ days of sun, sea, lakes, long cold drinks, cocktails, barbecues, fire pits, games, shorts, summer wear and long, light evenings. As always, make the most of life and each and every day. Live in the moment. “That’s fine”, I hear you say, “it sounds idyllic, but what about planning for the future?” Yes, of course, you can live in the future moments and prepare for them too. Farmers know this all to well. I was watching one farm prepare for winter already. As you are half way through the year, gently take stock of what you have experienced so far. It’s your life. Would you have chosen to live it differently. How will you set things up for the next six months? If you write a letter to put in your Christmas card (some people still enjoy that experience, as well as receiving them), would you feel happy with your account of the past year? Enjoy the next six months. Some things in life you can never plan for, and only choose how you react and feel about them. Others are under your control and you can steer the direction of your life. Enjoy the summer. Take a few moments, whilst relaxing, to consider life lessons learnt and plans for your future. Then raise a glass to the luxury of life.
