🌍 Earth Day vs. World Environment Day: Understanding the Difference 🌿 In the hustle of today, many have inquired about the contrast between Earth Day and World Environment Day. Here's a quick breakdown: 🌎 Earth Day (April 22nd): It's a global initiative focusing on individual and grassroots action for environmental protection. Earth Day prompts us to reflect on our daily habits and their impact on the planet. It's a call to action for all, emphasizing the importance of sustainable living and conservation efforts. 🌱 World Environment Day (June 5th): This is the UN's principal event for environmental awareness and action. It's a platform for international cooperation, policy advocacy, and large-scale initiatives. Each year, it spotlights a specific environmental issue, rallying governments, organizations, and individuals to work together for positive change. While both days share the common goal of safeguarding our planet, they operate on different scales and approaches. Earth Day encourages personal responsibility and small-scale actions, whereas World Environment Day emphasizes global collaboration and policy influence. By grasping these distinctions, we can better appreciate the significance of each day and contribute meaningfully to the ongoing efforts for a greener, more sustainable world. 🌍🌱 #Earthmonth #EarthDay #EarthDayEveryDay #Sustainability #ClimateAction #ReduceReuseRecycle #AriseIIP

It’s been a little while since we properly introduced ourselves and what we do 👋 Leaving A Legacy was founded to support grassroots initiatives around the world that are working to address critical environmental issues that are threatening the planet, people, and species 🌍💚 Our mission is to holistically restore one billion acres across the planet in a way that doesn’t just benefit ecosystems but nature and communities as a whole 🌳 We know we can’t achieve this alone, which is why we ⬇️ 🤝Partner with community-based grassroots organisations that are aligned with our mission and working to create change 🌱 Empower businesses to leave a lasting legacy and meet their sustainability goals by investing in holistic restoration projects. We know we can’t reverse the climate crisis, but that does not mean that we cannot still act together to create a world in which people thrive alongside nature 🌳💚🌍 We’re a small but mighty passionate team with team members around the world committed to creating a legacy for future generations 💚 Nimisha B. April is Earth Month, a time to celebrate our planet and take action to protect it. Earth Day, which is celebrated annually on April 22nd, is the largest civic event in the world, with over a billion people participating each year. Every April, leaders, and environmental activists from all over the world join hands to create sustainable development and offer climate solutions, to minimize our carbon footprint and prevent further harm to our planet’s natural resources. It’s increasingly important to observe this month as Earth starts to unravel the harmful effects of climate change which not only poses a threat to our existence but is irreversibly damaging all forms of life. Earth Month was first celebrated on April 4, 1970. By 1990, Earth Month became a global event after 200 million participants from 141 countries joined the initiative. By 1992, the United Nations became actively involved too which further enhanced the organization’s visibility. Today, Earth Month is widely recognized as one of the most important month-long observances in the world. #EarthMonth #EnvironmentalAwareness #Sustainability #KSEAware

What an incredible past few days at the #ClimateWeek in New York City. It's been truly extraordinary witnessing the efforts of individuals, NGOs, governmental bodies, the private sector and beyond to come up with some of the most innovative environmental solutions to date. It was an honour to be representing ESRAG - Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group at The Earthshot Prize as one of the nominating partners. There is so much power in bringing people together under the umbrella to achieve the same mission - a more sustainable world for us all. Some of my key takeaways from the conversations I've been having at this incredible dynamic event: 🍃 For us to truly acknowledge the severity of climate issues, we must see ourselves at the epicentre of those who are being affected - not just 'something out there'. As humans, we tend to remove ourselves from 'nature' even though we are inextricably interconnected. 🍁 We must re-imagine the stories we tell about Climate Change and tap back into Indigenous knowledge around nature-based solutions. For that, we must first listen deeply, actively and with an open heart. 🌿 Transforming these narratives can be messy, fragmented and disorienting, but like with every single change, we must prevail and not succumb to inertia. On this Earth Day, let's celebrate the incredible diversity of our planet and its people. We all have a role to play in protecting our one home. ✅Diversity: Our planet is teeming with life, from the tallest trees to the smallest insects. This diversity is essential for a healthy planet. Just as biodiversity is crucial for ecosystem health, human diversity is vital for solving our most pressing environmental challenges. ✅Equity: Everyone deserves a clean and healthy environment. Yet, environmental pollution and climate change disproportionately impact marginalized communities. Let's work towards environmental justice and ensure everyone has a voice in how we care for our planet. ✅Inclusion: Environmental protection efforts must include everyone. We need a wide range of perspectives and knowledge to address complex environmental issues. Let's create a space where everyone feels welcome to participate in protecting our planet. ✅Belonging: The Earth is our shared home. Let's foster a sense of belonging for all people and inspire everyone to be stewards of our environment. Together, by embracing DEIB principles, we can create a more just and sustainable future for our planet. #theexecutivelearninglab #deib #dei #todaysagooddaytochangetheworld #earthday #earth #happyearthday #earthdayeveryday #everydayisearthday #worldearthday #earthday🌎 #happyearthday🌎
