Do you use soothing rhythm breathing? There are a variety of ways we can use it, including it being the first rung on the ladder of compassionate mind training (part of compassion focused therapy). It’s a great way to activate the parasympathetic nervous system (rest & digest response), so it can be helpful in many ways inducing in decreasing stress & tension and creating an overall sense of wellbeing in the body. We can use it to build capacity in our nervous system too. For example, we can use this before connecting to our compassionate self for something that’s challenging and then we can use the practice again afterwards to support regulation. I recorded an updated version yesterday and added it to my soundcloud. The old version is still there which is a bit shorter. The newer version has a body check-in at the start and finish and a few alternative mantras to the traditional ‘mind slowing down, body slowing down.’ If you give it a go I would love to hear your feedback. https://lnkd.in/euB98bNy #compassion #selfcompassion #compassionatemindtraining #cft #soothingrhythmbreathing #soothing #nervoussytemregulation #vagaltoning #vagusnerve #connect #wellness #wellbeing

Why is this not a normal part of rehab? So many issues from necks, shoulders, and backs can be addressed by moving the rib cage properly. If you're looking to add it to your treatment, but don't know where to start then pick up balloons and have your patients BREATHE! The resistance from a balloon is a great starting place. If that sounds good, but if you’re not feeling 100% confident then grab my FREE PDF on how to successfully coach breathing exercises below! https://lnkd.in/djdWYwEG
