The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has just approved an $86.67 million grant to upgrade the 49-kilometer Dangara–Guliston road—Tajikistan’s first green corridor project. 🌱 This project will expand the road to four lanes while integrating climate resilience, sustainability, and inclusive design. Key highlights: • 🌍 Green roads toolkit: Incorporates climate adaptation, pollution reduction, and biodiversity conservation. • 🚗 Electric vehicle charging: Two pilot EV charging stations will be installed, promoting cleaner transport options. • 🚸 Inclusive design: Dedicated cycleways, sidewalks, and facilities for mothers, children, and people with disabilities. • 💡 Local empowerment: Training and entrepreneurship grants for women in nearby communities. This week, we are excited to highlight research to be undertaken by one of our Innovation Partners, MyVillage Cambodia (MVi). MVi will conduct research on the “Analysis of commune budget allocation for climate change and its impacts on marginalised communities: Case studies of commune administrations in Stung Treng Province.” This research will assess current budget allocation practices, analyse the participation of marginalised groups in budgeting, examine the effects of climate change projects on these groups, and identify key constraints faced by commune administrations in allocating funds for climate change initiatives. Germany Grants €9M to Uzbekistan for Sustainable Urban Development Uzbekistan has received a €9 million grant from Germany to develop “green” master plans for its cities, integrating climate-resilient and sustainable urban practices. Signed during the Territorial Development Forum in Tashkent, the funding, managed by GIZ, focuses on climate adaptation and promoting sustainable growth.
