🌱 Niger State Urban Policy: A Blueprint for Sustainable Urbanization   We are pleased to highlight the Niger State Urban Policy (NSUP), developed with the support of the UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme).   Despite numerous advantages and opportunities, this state in Nigeria faces many development challenges. The NSUP aims to transform these challenges into opportunities by strengthening rural-urban connections, promoting social equity, addressing climate and socio-economic issues, and fostering sustainable growth. Nepal's 16th Plan, led by the National Planning Commission (NPC), covers the fiscal years 2023-2028. The plan is aligned with Nepal's goal to achieve middle-income country status by 2030. It emphasizes inclusive economic growth, infrastructure development, poverty reduction, climate resilience, and enhancing social services. It's key focus area include economic diversification, energy, sustainable development and human capital development.

Sharing experiences from the SURGE mission in Bangladesh, which provided valuable insights into the transformative power of community-led solutions for sustainable development. The mission highlighted the importance of collaboration between governments, local authorities, communities, and development organizations in scaling development solutions and ensuring they are inclusive and tailored to local needs. https://lnkd.in/eJe7jUVi

The collaboration between UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme) and the Danwadaag Consortium, led by IOM - UN Migration, aims to support cities and local authorities through inclusive and sustainable urban planning. The goal is to prevent informal settlements, reduce land dispute risks, and promote social inclusion by integrating displaced individuals into the growth of intermediary towns. Urban Lab, in partnership with UN-Habitat- Somalia (UNITED NATIONS HUMAN SETTLEMENTS PROGRAMME) Country Programme, is developing urban plans for Hudur and Berdale towns in collaboration with their local governments. The team is organizing community workshops taking place tomorrow , 25th April, 2024 to bring together key stakeholders, to discuss "Displacement Sensitive Strategic Urban Development Plans." The objective is to improve spatial and economic relationships among these towns, foster socio-economic development corridors, and support decentralization processes. 🇺🇿 Over half of #Uzbekistan’s 37 million population currently lives in urban areas. By 2050, this number is projected to grow by 50%, surpassing 25 million. 🌐 To help the country effectively address the challenges and opportunities of rapid urban growth, we support the government through Bank-funded projects and technical assistance. Our efforts focus on developing urban infrastructure, creating green and climate-resilient cities, and building capacity to deliver municipal services.
