RBI Chief Corporate Officer Duncan Fulton recently appeared on a sustainability-focused virtual panel hosted by his MBA alma mater, Ivey Business School at Western University. The #ImpactLive discussion, titled The Leadership Challenge: Tackling Tradeoffs and Tensions for a Sustainable Future, also included JP Gladu BScF MBA ICD.D LL.D and Oana Branzei. It was moderated by Dusya Vera.       Speaking about how companies' environmental social governance (ESG) strategies are delivering impact and results, Duncan said there is a lot more focus on actions these days compared to 20 years ago. Companies see ESG "as serious but want to be very deliberate in picking a few things that have impact," he said. "You have to pick priorities and you have to do them well.”     When it comes to solving competing priorities, being led by your guests will ultimately lead to the right decisions, he noted.     He also stressed the importance of transparency on ESG matters: "Try honesty and engagement."     Read below for more on the panel. #ThoughtLeadership #RBI #ESG #Sustainability

Check out the key ideas about the role of Leaders' Character in ESG Strategies that we learned from the North Atlantic Roundtables on Leadership organized by the Ian O. Ihnatowycz Institute for Leadership in partnership with The Long Run Institute. One of our conclusions in this article (with Oana Branzei and Kimberley Young Milani) is that leaders see ESG Strategies throuhg different analogies: as a game with rules and referees, as positions with a few making the majority of the decisions, and as the prioritization of different types of capitals. The reliance on these lenses depends on the activation of different character dimensions.
