**Flag Off Ceremony** We officially launched the distribution of start-up kits and cash grants to 600 women in Bama LGA. Out of these, 400 women from the host community and 200 women ex-associate beneficiaries participated in this project, which aims to strengthen reintegration and social acceptance through the socio-economic empowerment of women. All these women have completed training in civic education, financial literacy, and various livelihood skills of their choice, with a focus on community-based livelihood options. The project also introduced them to micro gardening and briquette making to help mitigate the effects of climate change and promote sustainable land use practices. The ceremony was inaugurated by the Shehu of Bama, HRH (Dr.) Alh. Umar Kyari Umar El-Kanemi, who encouraged the women to make the most of what they have learned and gained from this initiative. This project is supported by UNDP Nigeria #peace #censcope

Recently, I represented DBD GLOBAL in participation of a 2-day National Capacity-Building Workshop on the Care Economy in Nigeria organized by UN Women for policy makers and key stakeholders. This workshop aimed at raising awareness about the importance of the care economy, it’s intersection with economic empowerment for women and other vulnerable groups, exploring policy solutions and mobilizing action towards a more equitable and sustainable care economy in Nigeria. A key highlight of the workshop was coming together to learn & rub minds with stakeholders from the federal ministries of education, finance and the National Bureau of Statistics to explore strategies & mechanisms for investment and infrastructure for care systems. DBD GLOBAL’s participation reinforces its commitment to partnering with actors on the international front who are driving sustainable economic development in Nigeria and the African continent at large, particularly through strategies and interventions that foster opportunity creation and the inclusion women and youth. If any goals or projects that you or your organization is currently focused on align with our commitments, please feel free to get in touch. The right partnerships are our type of thing. #DBDGlobal #CapacityBuilding #StrategicCommunications #SkillsDevelopment #Education #CareEconomy #UNWomen #Workshop #EconomicEmpowerment

My life's work is centered around inclusive representation and equitable access, as a NEED to have. A fundamental for a society to function. According to Muhammad Yunus - "Poverty is not created by poor people. It is created by an economic system in which all the resources tend to keep surging up toward the top, creating an ever- expanding mushroom head of wealth belonging to only one percent of the people." Last week, in an intimate style networking and fireside conversation, i joined at a high-level impactful workshop focused on strategies to strengthen system change, participatory governance, government responsiveness, improved socioeconomic, capacity building, fostering strategic collaboration with the winning team (ecosystem acceleration), and database initiative workshop for the smallholder women farmers in Nigeria. These efforts will move and ensure growth for the rural women farmers, Nigeria, and Africa future!... and much more Lots of work ahead #ruralwomenfarmers #women #agriculture #equirableaccess #inclusion #data #database #nigeria #africa

Reflecting on a Year of Impact and Partnership As 2024 draws to a close, we at IM Swedish Development Partner (Southern Africa region office), celebrate the strides made together with our incredible partners across #Malawi and #Zimbabwe. I was honoured during the year, to have an opportunity of meeting each one of them along with the rightsholders they work with. Through their dedication and resilience, I saw and felt their remarkable progress in advancing economic justice, climate resilience, and social inclusion. 👥 In Malawi, through our partnership with Malawi Economic Justice Network (MEJN), Centre for Environmental Policy and Advocacy (CEPA), Point of Progress (PoP), Youth Action For Success and Development -YASD, Concerned Youth Organisation (CYO), and Green Girls Platform (GGP), we have seen remarkable progress as they championed initiatives that empowered women and youth and their communities whilst driving sustainable change amongst the rightsholders. 🌿 Across the borders, in Zimbabwe, our great partnership with Zimbabwe Coalition on Debt and Development ZIMCODD, Green Governance Zimbabwe Trust (GGZT), Sprout Women Empowerment Trust (SWET), Green Institute and Simukai Child Protection Programme have continued to lead the charge for climate justice, economic empowerment, and advocacy. Through this partnership, we’re building a future where voices are heard, power has been shifted, and communities are thriving as you can see in the provided video collage of various photos from our partners.💪 #ReflectingOnImpact #EconomicJustice #ClimateResilience #SocialInclusion #SustainableDevelopment #ClimateJustice #PowerShift #ThrivingCommunities

Today, Tag A Life International convened a regional meeting for Adolescent Girls and Young Women Africa (AGYW Africa), bringing together participants from across the continent, including representatives from Zimbabwe, South Africa, Nigeria, Cameroon, Eswatini, Mozambique, Rwanda, Zambia, Uganda, and The Gambia. The primary objective was to harness a collective voice and make impactful contributions to the global agenda ahead of the Summit of the Future. As AGYW in Africa continue to navigate unique challenges such as gender-based violence, harmful social norms, and limited access to resources, it is imperative that we prioritize increased investment in addressing these issues. Specifically, the Pact of the Future must clearly articulate and resource these commitments in tangible terms. #AGYWAfrica #YouthEmpowerment #SummitOfTheFuture #PactOfTheFuture African Women's Development Fund (AWDF) Women's Coalition of Zimbabwe

🌟 Kebri-beyah Woreda's Local Economic Development Strategy Takes Off! 🌟 On November 26, 2024, Kebri-beyah Woreda achieved a significant milestone with the official launch of its Local Economic Development (LED) Strategy—a ambitious initiative designed to provide comprehensive livelihood support to communities, boost economic growth, and promote sustainable practices. This is a The World Bank Group initiative implemented as part of the Development Response to Displacement Impacts Project II (DRDIP II) and implemented by DMI Associates in partnership with East Africa Gate (EAGate). This Local Economic Development (LED) Strategy aims to: ✅ Enhance livelihoods for 3,000 pastoralist households. ✅ Rehabilitate 100,000 hectares of degraded land, benefitting over 50,000 farmers. ✅ Strengthen value chains for meat, dairy, poultry, and honey, increasing competitiveness by 50%. ✅ Foster inclusive growth, empowering women, youth, and refugees. With a vision to increase household incomes by 30% within five years, this initiative paves the way for resilient and self-sustaining communities. This achievement was made possible through the commitment, partnership and collaboration of 14 stakeholders, including public institutions, private sector actors, and civil society organizations through the Kebri-beyah LED Platform, chaired by the Woreda Administration. 💡 What’s next? The Woreda Administration calls on donors and development partners to: - Scale livelihood programs and value chain development. - Ensure sustainability of land rehabilitation efforts. - Promote gender equity and youth participation, key components of the strategy. We celebrate this milestone and look forward to seeing Kebri-beyah Woreda become a model for sustainable and inclusive growth across the region. Special thanks to everyone who contributed to drafting this strategy and to our dedicated ground team for their invaluable efforts. #LocalEconomicDevelopment #WBG #DRDIPII #SustainableDevelopment #InclusiveGrowth #Livelihoods #LEDStrategy #KebriBeyah #ResilientCommunities

🚨The world is in great upheaval🚨 The #SustainableDevelopmentGoals Report 2024 reveals that only 17% of the SDG targets are on track, with nearly half showing minimal or moderate progress and over one-third stalling or regressing. This stark reality calls for immediate and concerted action from all sectors of society. The Uganda National NGO Forum reaffirms its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals as a universal framework guiding our efforts towards sustainable development. As we stand on the threshold of achieving these ambitious targets, we recognize the vital role of civil society in promoting inclusive and equitable progress. We call on all stakeholders—government, development partners, and communities—to work collaboratively to ensure that no one is left behind. Together, we must address the pressing challenges of poverty, inequality, and environmental degradation while fostering a culture of accountability and transparency. We encourage ongoing dialogue and partnership to share knowledge, resources, and strategies that will drive meaningful change. Now, more than ever, we must act with urgency and determination to steer our world back on course. Read the Report>https://bit.ly/3Wp338A #LeaveNoOneBehind #TondekaMabega
