Even after three ablations, Tom still struggled with a debilitating arrhythmia. Our team at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, led by Dr. Haisam Ismail, referred him to the Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital at North Shore University Hospital to undergo a robotic-assisted ablation with Dr. Frank Manetta. The procedure was a huge success for Tom, who is enjoying his new lease on life with his repaired heart. Watch ⬇️

We're the only center on Long Island to develop a program to treat liver tumors with noninvasive targeted ultrasound beams. What is histotripsy? This innovative approach uses targeted ultrasound beams to create microbubbles within tumors, effectively disrupting and destroying diseased cells without the need for incisions. Kellany Santos’ journey is nothing short of inspiring. After receiving treatment for T-cell lymphoma and overcoming the challenges of multiple joint replacements, she’s now training for a half marathon! Kellany, your resilience and determination are incredible, and we’re so proud to have been part of your care. Cheering you on every step of the way!
When Keilany Santos was 17, she was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma — a rare type of blood cancer. In 2019, she finished her treatment at Long Island Jewish Medical Center but later found that she had vascular necrosis in both hips, a side effect of steroid use during her treatments. This led to two hip replacements. In 2023, Kellany developed necrosis in her right shoulder also from her treatments and had a partial shoulder replacement. Despite all the setbacks, Kellany hasn't let anything stop her. In fact, she's now training for a half marathon. Kellany, we're inspired by you and your determination. Good luck! 🏃♀️💨 Read more about her inspiring journey ▶️ https://bit.ly/41cMdML
