We have expanded our use of cardiopulmonary exercise tests (CPET) into the New York City region and Westchester. A CPET is a noninvasive test that gives our staff a global assessment of the cardiopulmonary system, including knowledge of a patient’s exercise capacity and any potential limitation to exercise.

Shoutout to the cardiac cath lab team at Lenox Hill Hospital, led by director Dr. Michael Kim, on using the newly FDA-approved drug-coated balloon procedure. As part of a new method to treat coronary artery disease, the procedure uses a balloon to help deliver drugs directly to affected coronary arteries.

Even after three ablations, Tom still struggled with a debilitating arrhythmia. Our team at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, led by Dr. Haisam Ismail, referred him to the Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital at North Shore University Hospital to undergo a robotic-assisted ablation with Dr. Frank Manetta. The procedure was a huge success for Tom, who is enjoying his new lease on life with his repaired heart. Watch ⬇️
