Government can and should work well for everyone. We're people-centered problem solvers showing that it's possible.
About us
Code for America is committed to building a team as diverse as the nation we serve. We’re made up of people-centered problem solvers: technologists, advocates, storytellers, and organizers from many different backgrounds and communities around the country. We merge the best parts of technology, nonprofit, and government. We believe government at all levels can and should work well for everyone— and the mindful use of technology makes it possible. We’re known for building digital tools, but the work doesn’t stop there. We seek to transform government by showing what’s possible when communities are included in policy and service design. We use insights and ideas from real people to guide us to real solutions that break down barriers to meet community needs and improve government in meaningful ways. Want to use your skills for good and help us drive change that lasts? Join our team!

Filling out complicated forms can be a barrier to accessing government benefits and services. But it doesn’t have to be so difficult. That’s why we host #FormFest—an event designed to imagine a world in which forms are well designed and make government more accessible to the people it serves. Our second annual FormFest brought together form enthusiasts from all over the world to collaborate on a better path forward. We focused on the need to make forms accessible, bring them online, and optimize for mobile—since only 2% of government forms are currently digitized. Read more about the event highlights and takeaways in our newest blog. https://bit.ly/4fswc8Z

Social safety net programs like SNAP and WIC help millions of people every year, but knowing your eligibility, keeping track of multiple applications, and making sure everything is submitted on time can be unnecessarily burdensome. We worked with Minnesota to build and launch MNbenefits, an integrated benefits application that enables people to apply for up to nine benefits programs in under 15 minutes. This led to simplified access to more than $100 million in public benefits for 275,000+ people. Read the full story: https://bit.ly/4iySDfE #safetynet
