  • We continue our spotlight of military veterans at the City of Riverside with Helen Long, a Military Police veteran with the Army National Guard. Helen's primary role involved maintaining order and security, ensuring the safety of her comrades. Joining the military with a goal to gain a better world experience, Helen embarked on significant deployments, including a detail at the Panama Canal and was activated numerous times for natural disasters like snow, hurricanes, and floods. Decorated with distinguished ribbons and awards, such as the Army Service Ribbon and Drivers Badge, Helen integrates her military experience into her present public service role as a Code Enforcement Officer with our Public Safety Engagement Team (PSET). Helen encourages fellow veterans transitioning to civilian life to explore new and unexpected career paths. Sometimes, the most fulfilling opportunities arise from places you least expect. #ILoveRiverside 🇺🇸

  • Every veteran at the City of Riverside brings a unique and powerful story. Leading up to #VeteransDay, we’re honored to spotlight team members who exemplify service, commitment, and patriotism. Meet Christiane Amat, a proud U.S. Navy and Reserves veteran with 8 years of dedicated service as an Aviation Machinist Mate, specializing in Engine/Powerplant Mechanics.
